I just got a 2020 trd pro with 110,000 miles on it and of course the front lower mount bushing on both front shocks are destroyed. Not sure if I can replace the bushing every place is telling me to replace the whole strut and you can’t buy the bushings. Should I buy new Fox suspension from Toyota or get the OME BP-51’s. Also if Fox sells the bushing I’d do that too! New to the Tacoma world here for the help

Those lower shock bushings are definitely replaceable, if you find the appropriate size. However, at that mileage, I would estimate a full rebuild is coming soon. There are members here that will rebuild them for you, but the cost of service and shipping is likely prohibitive.

I personally would avoid BP-51's. They are overly expensive and notorious for leaks. A good budget friendly option would be Bilstein's and they'd likely perform similar to the OEM Pro's.

I would NOT buy OEM Pro's from the dealer... pissing money away. Look on your local FBMP for low mileage take offs.

If you’re not getting new leaf packs, you could get a set of new Bilstien 6110/5160 (numbers might be off) from @memario1214 for a good price.

The UCA's add no value, so I would negotiate those out of the deal. At 40k, those aren't "low" mileage, but are a good option for the right price. I would probably only pursue those for sub $1000.

I would also get a quote from @memario1214 (awesome vendor) for the Billies mentioned above. A lot of people like the performance of the Bilsteins and they will likely serve you well, if you've enjoyed the Pro's.

I’ve heard good things about bilsteins and thank you for the tip I’ll try negotiating! Are they adjustable for adding more height/ as good as the Fox pros?

    6112/5160s with Icon stage 2 leaf’s.
I swapped to 6112/5160’s and Icon leaf packs on my ‘17 Pro. I was in the same boat at 100k miles and worn out shocks. I’m glad I made the swap.
If you go this route you should be able to sell your Pro parts to recoup some of your money too.

Rebuild you IBP shocks and replace the bushing. Don’t downgrade.

I would love to but no shop and myself can find the bushings. Do you know where I can buy them?

I have the Pro Fox's on my '23. There has got to be a way to buy those bushings. Did anyone try and call Fox in Cali? Perhaps Accutune in San Diego area?

Yeah, definitely a +1 on calling Fox or Accutune first. The Pro's suspension is rebuildable and at least as good as anything else for the cost of a rebuild.

Something to also keep in mind, @noah_sobel, is when you go to sell the truck, all of the unique TRD Pro items (especially the suspension) add a bunch to the resale value of the truck. Personally, if I was looking for a TRD Pro and it had some other aftermarket type of suspension on it, I would pass on it and keep looking. I feel that's another reason to rebuild what you've got.

Eh... calling them "rebuildable" isn't exactly accurate. They can be modified, to be rebuildable, but it requires tapping a schrader valve into them, so they can be recharged.

If I were buying a used Pro and saw this... that would give me more concern than a reputable aftermarket option.

    upload_2025-5-9_17-1-37.jpg

Also, having had the Pro suspension, it's absolutely nothing to write home about, and the aftermarket options are certainly on par if not better.

Does Fox rebuild them or only others? When Fox rebuilds, do they install the Schrader valve?

I could be wrong, but I don't believe Fox considers them rebuildable, and will not rebuild them. I'm fairly certain it's only the home jobbers.

    Old post though...

I still don't think it makes financial sense... cost too much and your truck is on jack stands while you wait.
