255s on your 4th Gen Tacoma? Let's see the pics!

It seems the 255 70, 75, 80 & 85 R17 and the 255 70R18 off-road tires make a whole lot of sense for better traction, mileage, tire price and to accommodate the low offset wheels for the 4th Gen currently on the market. Maybe also 235s and 245s?

Post you pics, please note your 1) tire sizes, 2) whether E load or SL rated, 3) wheel offset and 4) mileage (before and after). Front, back and side pics are the best

 

All those sizes seem smaller than stock sport and OR tires. Why would someone want a smaller tire?

 

Some women 1) equate smaller tires with larger johnsons. 2) they won't drive by and stick their hand out the window doing the "inch" thing with their thumb and index finger.

Seriously, maybe one should drive the biggest tires possible to keep that type of beach away!!!

That said, I'm not sure there is a whole lot of benefit in dry conditions and snow with thicker tires, for traction. Plus the other benefits I mentioned. Like tire weight and rolling resistance.

I saw a 255 85R17 on a 4th Gen that I thought looked the best on a Tacoma. Better than a 285....

A 255 70R18 is 32 inches in height and 10.2 inches wide.

A 265 70R18 is 32.6 in height and 10.7 inches wide.

 

I ran 235/85/16 on my 3G. I like the pizza cutter look, it looks old-school mil-spec.

I think 255/85/17 is the sweet spot for the 4G.

 

You hit the nail on the head. The problem with 18" wheels is the largest I can find is 255/70/18s.

 

I ordered a set of five Falken Wildpeak A/T4W in 255/80/17 right before they went up $25 (tariffs?) on all the tire websites. They arrived today. I ended up passing on the Mickey Thompson Bajas in 255/85 because the Falkens were a lot cheaper and have better on-road manners in all the reviews.

I think I can live with "merely" 33 inch tires. Stock BFGs are 31.5" I think. Will post pics once they're mounted!

I have two sets of wheels/tires. These were around 16mpg. The SL 285/70/17s I’m running now are around 20mpg

The MTs can be had for $312/ea.
