I've owned a bunch of Toyota trucks. Land Cruiser, GX470, several 4runners and a 3rd gen Tacoma. I loved the 3rd gen inside and out, except the drivetrain. The 3.5 and 6 speed auto in stock form is terrible compared to all others.

My favorite driver was my 05 V8 4runner. It was very quick for an SUV, and handled amazingly.

I would love a 4th gen Tacoma for the extra power, but the price is steep for what it is.

yes, though when I was looking at the current Ford Rangers I was surprised they still use keyed ignition- only Lariat trim and above get push button start. Hello? 2015 is calling and wants it’s trucks back. Plus no wallet / credit card key.

Hard no for me. I programmed the Lexus credit card key to my 3rd gen eight years ago and love goin fobless. Just me and my wallet and I’m good to go

Agree with you keyless push button should be standard.

Side note, I'm a mechanic as my day job. Work at a performance shop. I did an alignment today on an F150 Raptor 3.5 turbo. The owner obviously did some heavy mods and tuning. OMG this thing burned rubber. I wasn't even trying and this truck took off. For shits I blipped the throttle at 40mph. The tires let loose all crazy. I was amazed. I also have owned a few Turbo civics, and can really appreciate a turbo engine.

A tuned 4th gen Tacoma, with increased boost targets, etc is going to be a monster.

My little 1.5L civic turbo can easily and safely get 50-70 HP and TQ just from a tune. I can't wait to see what these Tacomas are capable of tuned.

Another key point that REALLY sets the 4th gen apart is how they addressed the NVH issues of earlier gens.

Noise, vibration, and harshness are nearly non-existent inside. Even the glass is quieter.

That’s probably what the Toyota Engineers say on every post.

As a person who also drives a 25’ sequoia I just love that engine.

What type of posts do you take seriously?

Speaking of the glass, double check the windshield for defects before taking delivery. I noticed more than one 4th gen with a wavy windshield on the lot. My 3rd gen had a defective windshield new too.

If you drive a Taco of any Gen and you are smiling behind the wheel, then your life is good. The only permanent thing is impermanence... one day Gen 8 will roll off the line and this thread will be dust and rust.... Life's a Trip... Enjoy the Ride (in a Taco)!:mudding:

The writing is one the wall already. The Tacoma is going away like the T-100. The future of Toyota trucks is the Stout and Tundra.

Exactly, the 1st gen isn’t a serious family vehicle. It’s also gutless.

I’m not a fan of the way the American car market is going. Everything’s digital, push button or automatic.

I’m a fan of the mechanical vs computer. I have a 2nd gen and I love it. However, I wish it was a 1st gen with roll up windows, manual hubs and everything else.

All the manufacturers are making smaller engines turbocharged standard. I don’t want all that stuff. I’m a fan of the simplicity of the old.

I’m sure those 4th gen’s are nice though. With that price tag they better be. What’s important is you like the truck you buy! lol glad to see positive reviews of Toyota. I’ll always be a fan

It's just different than the 3rd Gen but our Toyota lots around here are full of 4th Gens. Those 4th Gens aren't selling! I have tested a Pro and the rear seat room ruled me out, it just sucks ass for leg room. The Off Road was nice, but I think my 2018 rides better. Not many are crazy about the 4cyl. as I'm not too sold on it yet plus the price is beyond stupid high! I like the 4th but the 3rd looks better and with mine tuned and on 285s it feels quicker than the 4th Gen to me.

True. I got rid of the

This has gone from being annoying, to comical, to downright stupid.

Let’s just end this thread by saying every non 4G owner on this thread reading, browsing, and commenting are secretly loving the new Tacoma. There is no other reason to be in here continuously participating if they didn’t care.

I suggest considering there are about or 8 versions of the current Tacoma, most competitors do not have the long bed option, and they fail against it for safety and other measures. With so much testing and checking out alternatives I ended up considering the price for some versions good.

May have to give the new Tacoma a look. But I’m still going to keep my 04.IMG_2258.jpg
