I was born and grew up in Los Angeles. My sister is still there until she retires in 4 years. I moved up north for college (Chico) after I got out of the Army, and ended up working in the Sacramento area (Folsom) and living up the hill in the Placerville area for the last 30+ years, until we moved to Kentucky in 2022.

You could get a job here, our freezer stays at -40°, would be some good practice for you. I've been in there 3 times today, really pleasant.

Yes! It was insanely gorgeous. I'd put up with a lot for a gorgeous state. That said, I am good at preparing for stuff too and I can do so way more for cold than for heat.

    Brief story time:
I was in Colorado about 5 years ago in the early fall. Flew into Denver, went up pikes peak and landed in twin lakes by nightfall. When we arrived it was over 100 degrees. When we went to bed that night it was in the 30s and there was 10 inches of snow on the ground. I think that swing in temp was shy of a record by 1 degree. That's the biggest temperature swing I've ever experienced. It was wild!

That's always been my dream job. I was hoping to just be adopted for a month and not have to work, but I cant pass up -40° freezers.

There's a crepe under there. It was delicious. Made with homemade Chantilly (which is fancy cream, I asked cause I didn't know) :anonymous:

That doesn't look comfortable to wear a lb of randomness swinging on your wrist.
We've had one friend out in winter once and while he enjoyed the experience, he'll stick to summer visits. I also think the lack of produce and selection would hit you hard.

It's certainly pretty though and I love the area we're in and watching the animals come and go throughout the year. Lots and lots and lots of birds

I think it would be easier to manage if I knew it was just for a short time. Produce shortage wouldn't bother me. I'll eat anything.

The pictures you post of the scenery and birds are really nice!
