Is the Tacoma moving in a favorable direction (1st gen to 4th gen)??

Discussion in '4th Gen. Tacomas (2024+)' started by yotadust, Apr 24, 2025.

?

Toyota is selling brand new Tacos gen 1 thru 4 for 4th gen price. Pick one...

  1. 1st gen

  2. 2nd gen

  3. 3rd gen

  4. 4th gen

I test drove the Gen 4 and it drives like a crossover. I don't understand all the whining about prior generation seats? I've owned a Tacoma's since 1997 and all the seats were just fine. The 4th gen driving experience is way too car like. I like the feeling that I'm driving a truck. If I want a truck that drives like a car I would get a Ridgeline or a Santa Cruz.

No, because they weren't much of a difference from the 1994 PU Toyota built.

The IFS was torsion bar, and the 3.0 V6 ate head gaskets. I think that's about it other than cosmetics.

    Also, this thread still sucks.

Still waiting on one of you Florida 4th gens to logging chain up to my 3rd gen SR and get after it.

3rd gen SR vs 4th gen SR5, dirt road tug of war. Stock street tires, Best of 3 pulls. 4low, no lockers, 1st gear, no modes, no payload.

    Who wins??

You pick the weirdest stuff to base your truck preferences on. A tractor pull shootout? No Tacoma in the history of Tacomas is designed to excel at that. You are have been in the wrong category of truck all this time if that’s something that’s relevant to how you drive and use a truck.

Today you could learn about overall gear ratios and torque multiplication, or you could complain about a truck you don’t even care to learn about
