Looking to get a bed rack or bed bars to go over my softopper to mount a rooftop tent. Seen a lot of threads but a lot of the options seen to be pretty expensive. Looking for something in the 300-500ish range and seen the HMOR bars as an option but wondering what else people are running.

I'm not aware of anything in that price range.

This is our least expensive option: https://www.max-modular.com/toyota-tacoma-years-2005-to-present-11/topper-max-bed-rack

This is our higher end option starting at $1550: https://www.kbvoodoo.com/cxr-softopper-truck-bed-racks?category=Toyota+Tacoma

HMOR bars are just bare bone bars, you will need to weld on mounting tabs and then paint/powdercoat them yourself but they are the cheapest option I know of.
The only way to go cheaper than them would be build your own. They are a very simple design that would be easy to build yourself if you have a tube bender and welder.

I have been wanting a rack for a 270 awning but it's so hard to justify a $1000 rack and $800 awning vs the $400 180 awning I already have.
Maybe if I could find a 270 awning with a mosquito net I might consider it worth the cost

I have the HMOR bars and a softopper. They work well together, but you have to get kind of creative with the weather stripping to seal it up. I use mine to haul kayaks mostly.
