Jack O'Connor was perhaps the most prolific firearms and hunting writer/expert of the 20th century.
He was also an amazing shot with a rifle, often dropping deer at a dead run.

 

I took 3x more allergy meds than I typically do. No effect. Then when I lost my sense of taste, I knew I need to double check.

I’m in the military so we have a reporting process. Long story short, I might not be going out on next weeks mission and will be forced to quarantine and use PTO.

If you're a fanatical deer hunter, steer clear of:

Pennsylvania
Michigan
Wisconsin

Not because there aren't enough deer.
No, there are plenty, and lots of public land too...
No, it's the number of deer hunters there.

According to Pennsylvania Game News, those 3 states have the most licensed hunters.
Usually in that order.
And that ain't counting the poachers

 

Delaware is loaded with deer but there’s literally zero public lands so you better know a land owner

I question that breakdown.
New River Gorge is not in the South.
West Virginia broke away from Virginia during the Civil War.

Mammoth Cave (KY) is questionable.
Kentucky sided with the North as well.

And the Northeast got gypped
