Looking to buy a 2015 Tacoma
A year after my intial complaint to Toyota and mine is only getting worse. Exterior doors, inside doorjambs and even inside fener-I mean- are you kidding? A doorjamb and inside fender? I have a few older cars and this is the last place paint flakes-even after 50 years so Toyota definately has an issue. I need to re-open my complaint as I'm still paying Toyota Financial for my truck.

the most recent I have seen is 2020 but they all have the same paint so I'm sure we will need newer trucks with the issue as well as time goes on.

They really should. Even a 7-year-old vehicle shouldn't have paint failure.

I have a 2018 TRD Sport, with about 38k that is having issues with clear coat loss and paint fade on the cab. The blue is turning white, but it's not just weather, but definitely a factor defect of some sort, due to the exact square pattern of paint loss.

Took it into Toyota Dealer, and all they could due was give me the number for the local Toyota quality complaint line, due to being out of warranty. The service rep, did tell me that they've been seeing this issue come up lately, especially in a lot of the grey colors.

It'll be a shame if Toyota won't do a recall of some type on these trucks, since its obviously a defect.
I'm curious if anyone else has seen this issue in their 2018's, and if so, hopefully you file a complaint.

Got my letter from Toyota Customer Satisfaction today. Funny they are clear ITS NOT A RECALL but an offer to repair peeling paint on 2016-2022 Tacomas with Super White paint peeling around the window frames and the inside edges of the front fenders in the engine compartment. This first letter is just a notice the fix will be coming. A second letter will be sent to schedule the paint job in 2024.

Contact your dealer - they can look up your vin and see if you are part of the Customer Service program for the Tacomas.

Is this still an issue...want a 2023 in white and the numerous threads are far from inspiring. Notice that the "letter" says till 2022. Does that imply the 2023 is fixed or they are just gonna try and screw more people.

I see late model white cars of all makes missing paint, Chevy seems to be the worst so far, just based on casual observation.

My 2017 Tacoma started this issue about two year ago. Toyota is currently backing the issue after a long awaited time. Looks like I’m getting my whole truck redone now! And being reimbursed for previous repairs! About time!

Congrats, although with it torn apart that much I'd almost opt for a color change.

My 2019 just started to cracking on the drivers side cab door, and peeling at both front fenders near the windshield. Will toyota just paint those areas, or all doors? Is this repair a one time deal or for the 10 years they state on the warranty service form.

They will only paint affected areas as they peel. If more areas peel later, they will then paint those.

there is more areas that are flaking off vs the one they sent in the mail which was the 4 doors and 2 front fenders. so your saying upon inspection they will paint any area flaking off and maybe down the line whichever area flakes, they'll repaint it too? right now im waiting to see if they can repaint ALL areas that is flaking or maybe repaint the whole truck since all area is bad but only time can tell.

Correct. They painted my 3rd gen fenders and hood first, driver’s side passenger door next, and then passenger rear door.

They didnt do my roof but the doors and fenders came out good. the inner fenders where they bought up its ok but its shown that its been painted. My panels inside are kinda scratched up from them taking them off and they hit my truck in the front and scratched up and messed up my alignment.
Right now its back at Toyota so they can give fuss to the body shop for a crappy work they've done. Overall my experience has been awful with my local dealership and wasting alot of my time going back and forth. I will probably bring this up the ladder to them.
