A few additions to make me feel cool.
I feel like the car cup runs now lends itself to luck more than anything else. A few drivers can lean on superior talent, guys like Larson who can just drive on the edge more than others but you have guys that just do not like the feel this car has and never will. The tire is to large and the sidewall is to small. The skill that cup used to have was the ability for drivers to have feel and this car does not do that. You go out, run it as hard as you can and sometimes you win. Others you wad it up. The whole underbody deal it a completely different discipline and most of these drivers have zero experience with it. Everything leading to cup shares a similar design and then you get to cup and you might as well throw these guys into the Indy series.
The guys who have success with this car are the ones who also lose it and slam into the wall all the time. Guys that do not (22, 9, 6, 48, 19 with MT). These are guys who do not wreck a lot of cars and they run mid pack unless they luck into a win.

The current car hasn't been pushed to its limits. It has incredible downforce and grip abilities, but the power threshold means the car will never be pushed to the edge like the old cars were. They designed a fast-looking car that goes slower. Looks great on TV, probably not fun to race.

True, these guys are on throttle almost all the time due to the lack of power. Give them 850-900HP and I suspect these things would go faster than Indy carts at Dega. Give them the power to spin out at least. I think this new car looks like shit on the track. Sits high in the front and is wide as hell. I hate everything about the thing.

And the #34, (Layne Riggs), gets a D.Q. for Truck bed infraction.
