Man, my old truck would have been great for that. The magnetic gray just shows all the stripes

How’s the new rig running? You get the starter/flexplate and all that other nonsense worked out?

Nope. I haven't had the truck in seven weeks. I've been ranting about it in my build thread, but there is a check engine light that they have been unable to solve for the whole time. The hard start issue is also still there, despite a new flywheel. Theoretically they will have it put back together tuesday from resealing the injector ports in the cylinders, and have a new flywheel spacer from Toyota. I have little faith that this will solve it, as the dozen or so other fixes haven't done anything. I commission into the Air Force on tuesday, so I need my damn truck done

Probably won't really be able to drive it for a few months through the different trainings you'll be getting into so hopefully they can get that figured by then. I think I went close to 9 months without a personal vehicle but I'm sure the airforce may be a little different

I will be doing pilot training, I've already done all my other trainings through AFROTC. I will be basically just a normal officer, my job will just be to learn to fly, so I will still need a vehicle to get to and from base and everything. I also need a truck to PCS to Texas, so things might get fun here if they don't finish up before I leave in early June.

The military has contractors that will move all your belongings for you during a pcs. You'll get a specific amount of weight allowance determined by rank (or they will pay you 80-90% of what they would pay the moving company if you do it yourself so you can rent a moving truck and still come out ahead)

    Airforce is wildly different

Anybody have access to a press brake? I have an idea for a relatively simple quick detach for my pelican case, but I would have to make the brackets myself. The pre baked pelican solution does not work because I have an older revision that has no handle on the "wheels" end of the case.

So on the front side I'd just use one of the standard Pelican provided mounts that clamp the handle down:
    5069_pelicancasemountinstall7_910612.jpg

But then since the back side of mine has only the wheels, I could drift the pins for the wheels out, and throw in one of these guys:
    Screenshot 2025-05-11 135221.png

    20250511_130720.jpg

I'd need a U-shaped bracket to go inside the "wheel well" of the case with holes to mount to the roof rack, and holes that would like up with the axle holes of the wheel. Then you could just throw those 2 pins through both sides and have a "quick release" roof rack storage.

What if you took some 1” square tube and cut off an appropriate width of it, wheel width (or whatever size tubing to get the height right)

Then drilled holes on three sides. Two holes are there to pass the pin through and the third is there to bolt to the prinsu. Or four holes so you can get a screwdriver down inside of it, depending on the bolting down solution.

Assuming the height necessary isn’t too small.

I had a rubber ducky on the dash of my civic in high school. It migrated through all my vehicles, Got it at the nickel arcade for probably $50 worth of tickets. I thought it was cool back then because it was wearing the dress blue uniform. Each time I got promoted I'd add a stripe to his wings to make sure it out ranked me. He flew away when I totaled my 09 back in 2018 and now that everyone has damn ducks it's not fun anymore

I came across someone with a pet duck in Safeway this afternoon. That was a first for me.

I'd rather not have that thing where I put my groceries, live animals do not belong in shopping carts.
