My Manual 23 TRD Off Road stock everything is on its second transmission because the bell housing exploded with only 12000 miles. Anyone else experienced this?

    Pics?
What cause it to “explode”? Seems the clutch would have to let go to actually blow up the bell housing.

The bellhousing doesn’t just explode, something inside has to go boom first

This. No internals pressure on it directly unless there is a rapid unscheduled disassembly inside of something moving like the clutch. Any more details?

Stock everything, except the lift, AAL and control arms? So what was happening when the bell housing exploded? Bell housings don’t just ‘explode’. Things inside them explode. C’mon Lucy, you got some ‘splaining to do.

Someones pressure plate went kerflooey [thanks Calvin] then BOOM! I doubt a clutch disc would come close to doing this.

Bell housing is a fixed piece of solid metal. There is nothing to explode.

I see 3 options here, assuming the 12k is an indicator that the trans has never been opened up

    1) a very very rare factory flaw

    2) serious hooning. Like redline clutch sidestepping. Or a significant under vehicle smack, like on a rock, hunk of steel or other obstruction

    3) pure hookum with a one and done first post.

We'll have to wait for OP to get out of bed for more details. He was up late last night, making his one and only original post.

Hmmm, would even 4LO and send it hard even do this? I remember my '22 OR MT had some torque in 4LO, but never thought it would be enough to send it that hard? o_O

I would think an axle shaft or u-joint would go before something like this. I would think a rare factory defect, but transmission #2?

A squirrel did it. Chewed a hole in the housing and filled it with acorns. :)

Hmmm, OP must have been really pushing the limits on his rig to get this to happen not once, but twice! Or he is the most unluckiest bastard to ever walk the face of this earth.

I'm 90% in line with that theory but if you smack it on something wheeling (hard to do) or there was a defect in the casting, under torque it could get a structural flaw / crack started that eventually gives up. Still, I want to see pictures.
