I guess I was a JR fan as well. I like to see his teams win in xfinity.

JRM is a good... JR, as a driver, like Chase, disappointment. Never will be their fathers. Probably a curse.

Jr was a hell of a driver through about 06. All the shit he went through caught up with him. The emotional part of losing his dad, all the weight that was put on him and then all the stuff that went down at DEI. On top of that he took a lot of punishment and did not really take care of himself. He was never going to be his dad but he also did not realize the potential he had because of outside factors that no driver in history has ever faced or ever will again. Now he has come into his own and has reached and lived up to his potential in life. That’s more important.

For Chase he just does not seem to have that fire. He takes it as it comes but seems to be content with whatever happens. Jr became that way. At the end of the day I just don’t think that Chase cares. I blame this car. I don’t think Chase likes it and does not feel like he is better than the competition in it and thus just says fuck it.

Totally agree. Still equals a disappointment. He lived a tough life and Theresa made it worse. Maybe disappointment can be better defined as didn't live up to unrealistic expectations as far as his NASCAR driving career. As an owner, he's top notch. Pretty darn good podcast too!

If you look at the first 6-8 years of Dales driving career it was pretty spectacular. He was never the same after that wreck in the Corvette. Granted he was never going to be his father but for a handful of years he was more than what was expected. Then we got into the JJ years and swapping formats and all of that. To say Dale was not a great driver is like saying Steve Park was a hack or Earnie Erving was just okay. Those guys were elite until they got hurt and lost that edge or part of what made them great. The fact that Dale did it for as long as he did and struggled for a long as he did does not make him a poor or over hyped driver. It proves that he gave it more than most and hurt himself in the process. Even then went out and tried to be what everyone wanted him to be.
You also have to remember that Dale was hitting walls long before the safer barrier and back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s those hits equate to more damage than today’s driver feels in a career. Dale gets looped into the Harvick era but Dale had a few years of hard impacts before KH and those guys came in. Those were the years where people were dying.

I suspect Chase is frustrated with the love that Larson got coming to HMS. The 5 is the premiere car and it seems the 24 is a clear number 2. I don’t blame HMS as those guys have performed but in Chase’s mind he is the guy. Nothing has really changed in that Larson replaced JJ. Byron replaced Gordon and Chase is the Dale Jr. I think Chase thought he would be JJ. And I guess Bowman is KK or whoever the 4th struggling HMS driver has always been.

There was a write up last week on one of the internet sports channels from an interview with Jeff about Willie B. Jeff said that William will be in the 24 for as long as he want's to be. William said that Jeff was his Idol growing up and he wants to be just like Jeff and he couldn't be Happier being in the 24 car. Jeff said that William is performing Well and they are Happy with what he is doing in his old number.

I think that Willie B is actually Gordons love child from back in the day. The Byron family has been tied to Liberty and Dupont and Jeff was the show pony for that group back in the day.

It was almost like he had magnets in his car, If there was going to be an issue on the track, His car found it or made the issue.
