    how have i made it all the way to page 3, and absolutely no one's mentioned the ubiquitous and always lurking MONEY SHIFT?

    though i do like the wheel hop theory. driving angry in the mist, that stuff can get violent pretty fast.

    I had the pressure plate fail on a $2k clutch in under 1000 miles. Nothing catastrophic tho, no bell housing damage, and the manufacturer replaced it for free. These things do happen.

    I was that someone a few years ago. My buddy was trying to do a burnout in his Mini Cooper S. I said it smells really metallic so you've gotta be burning your clutch. He laughed at me and said its tire smoke. We get out later and the tires looked completely un touched. He was not happy :rofl:
