Paint issue on 25’Silver TRD OR.

Corporate "you claims rep" is who you need to keep calling at this point....
Unless you just wanted to pick the service managers brain about what else we discussed...............

 

Had this exact same issue with my 3rd gen, no idea how you can get changed but learned to ignore it

Call into corporate today. Told it’s in legal review phase. May take up to 60 days. Time started 4/18.

 

I’m getting PM’s from others with the same issue from the Baja plant. Looks like they need a visit to the cage.

 

Yes, from my research to date it seems the paint issues are isolated to the Baja plant.

 

Could go over, mine did....
But seems like they may have got some needed help in the deppt & hopefully things move faster....

Ive had a few PM's also.....
Few guys out there with the silver shitshow...

Think my neighbor is in this is too much work to deal with & ill live with it crowd, which is mind-blowing to me on a $50k truck.....
Some people just cant be bothered to do the work...

just got a email this afternoon from corporate Toyota. Buyback. Have a list of items I’ll need to provide them but it’s official

my dealer is in the loop too and told me it still may be some time before it’s all done. Okay with that on my end. Still have a truck to drive into the sunset

it ain’t done yet but looks good and I encourage anyone who has this issue to move forward with this process…it’s not that hard.

 

1. what are you going to get for a replacement?

2. what do you think Toyota will do with the truck they buyback?

 

I’ll stick with my dealer.
Same truck but going with white.
Have no idea what they do with buybacks?

 

It will be a new purchase. They apparently don’t do a swap

 

I didnt spill the beans, just a happy dance...
As we discussed, Include your parts / labor, lift & tires receipts to go along with all that required info....
You refuse to pay their wear & tear, usage fee.
They will waive it....
I politely stated this wasnt my screw-up, we could start the process over again & get an attorney toyota will be on the hook for in regards to attorney fees...
At the time I had no idea what the "usage fee" total looked like...
As I stated, it was minimal but still had no reason to agree to pay it.

Reports indicate that some 4th generation Tacoma owners, particularly those with white paint (specifically Super White and Blizzard Pearl), have experienced paint peeling.

 

Get the Terra. That way if the paint peels, you won't notice.

 

Theyre not using the same primer, the issue has been resolved.....
The issue wasnt just with Toyota, it was across all makes.....

Toyota offered to repaint nearly 1.8 million cars, you truly think theyre just doing the same thing the did in the past....?
Ive got 3 buddies that ran my ford bodyshop for over 40 years each, all 3 of them only buy white vehicles...
They also keep their vehicles long term...
They all told me. I was crazy for even considering silver....

Maybe they have resolved the peeling issue but I’m just not convinced yet the 4th gen white paint has not been out long enough to prove itself IMO. We are not even through the second year so time will tell. I saw the thread on your 2024 and I didn’t see peeling paint but it was the worst paint job on a new vehicle I have ever seen. I’m going to include the link so if someone hasn’t seen it yet they need to before they take delivery of a 4th gen Tacoma.
