I rode the whole thing on a Saturday in November this past year... so we did get a permit but not campsites.

We did it clockwise, starting at the top of mineral bottom switchbacks, and all agreed that we'd be curious to try it the other direction.

I still beat up my pedals and crank arms too much to get fancy stuff. I’m on the composite PNW pedals and just replace them when all the pins are bent over and the bearings start to get loose :anonymous:

Got out to Spider Mountain near Austin this morning. Pretty fun park. More suspension is better for sure. Not sure how people were riding hardtails. The demo Spire was great to ride. Could have dialed the suspension in better, but whatever it's a demo for a day. Antidote and Venom were fun jump trails. I could not get the last few doubles at the bottom of Venom. It felt like my timing was off pumping in and out of them. Of the last 4 pack of doubles, I could only get the first. The second would eat my speed and I couldn't carry through to the last 2. They weren't very big either. Neither of the trails compare to Rainmaker at Trestles though. Some of the more techy trails were closed. There was a storm last week that rutted out a few of the trails. The double black trails with bigger features had the ruts, which was kind of a relief so I didn't feel obligated to try them. None of the trails were crazy difficult. The blacks here needed some awareness, but were totally doable. I flew out with my half shell speed frame fox helmet. A full face would have been nice, but it was also mega hot.

Sticky Icky was a fun black trail. Pretty tech. It makes sense they do DH races on it. Cedar Fever was also a ton of fun to ride. Some jumps scattered throughout Cedar Fever just felt good.

Since it was a Monday, there were maybe 20 people riding throughout the whole day. I got there at 9 for opening and had to take off around 2pm to get back to Austin for a work thing, but they close at 4 so I don't think many people would have shown up after.

I'd ride it again if I was in the area, but wouldn't make it a destination trip.

Just buy used. Plenty of good brands like one up alloys that clipless dudes sell cheap. I just Keep an eye out and buy around 50-60. My alloys have held up way better and I think they scrape over rocks easier lol… subjective

I sure can like the fancy stuff but now with old age reconsider some of the purchases. My last fancy brand aka boutique pedals got a bent spindle with a rock hit with same ease as the composite ones but I did it on the 2nd ride so I've stuck with composite OneUp and Chesters since.

Our daughter's new bike has some nice all metal pedals so that made me smile. I was same at same age.

    :)

    so after 3000 miles.
I finally serviced the fork and rear shock.. by installing DVO Onyx D1 180mm Fork and a DVO Topaz 3 rear shock.

Glorious day in park city. Been raining and snowing a few days, and the mountains are slowly melting off.
The trails are the best I’ve seen them in a long time, no one around, cloudy and sunny, 55*. These are the days.
