I feel like my mind has not fully put everything together...

Two weeks ago (Monday, April 28th), I communicated with Emily via text message, and she told me that she wasn't feeling well; Emily was constantly sick, and I brushed this off as just another attempt at getting attention...

Three days after I texted with Emily, Amanda texted with Emily (Thursday, May 1st), at which point she told Amanda that not only was she was not feeling well but that she believed two medications she'd taken were interacting, and Amanda told her to talk to her doctor...

Two days after that, we found her dead...

Numerous friends have reported communicating with Emily throughout the day on Friday, with the last known communication being a text with her ex-boyfriend at 9:42PM. We believe that Emily was still alive at 10PM, and that she passed somewhere between 12AM and 6AM on Saturday morning.

Things have gotten a lot better for me in the roughly 10 days since she passed, but I still can't believe that yet another person I knew is gone, and I am certainly still coping with the fact that I actually found their body.

    @ColoradoTJ

Some people experience guilt when somebody they care about dies, depending on the situation, and I think that I am experiencing that right now...

Surviver guilt is a real thing my man. It's good you get it out of your system on here, close friends, and even professional assistance. My neighbor is a child-young adult therapist and has helped us with raising our kids and dealing with difficult situations. Sometimes a different perspective is all that is needed.

You have a good support system on here. The people that post in your threads (the regulars) are salt of the earth people. We don't all see everything the same but that's what makes the world go round.

What I'm feeling guilty about is that Emily was likely really in trouble, but I was so used to her crying wolf in order to get attention that I brushed her off. Within five days, she was gone...

I'm going to stop speculating on things publicly until the autopsy results come back, but Amanda and I think that two of the prescribed medications she was taking caused an interaction that led to her death...

Probably best to wait to see what happened. Right now it's just throwing darts in the dark.

As stated above, it's as though my mind hasn't put everything together yet, even though it's been more than a week since we found her. The whole thing just seems so surreal; I never thought in a million years that I'd come across a friend's dead body...

Out of respect for you Charlie. (And everyone one else involved)
I going to not comment. I don’t think anything I have to say on the subject, would help you or anyone else heal.

I am very overdue for a physical, and was planning to schedule one before Emily passed. My physician is booked solid through at least August, but once I told the receptionist about what happened with Emily and how I was worried about my own health, they were able to get me an appointment with another doctor at the practice on June 6th. I do not think I’m gonna drop dead tomorrow, but I’m overweight and I have high blood pressure, and I would really love be on this earth four or five more decades! Seeing your overweight friend dead at 36 really opens yours eyes!

Also, @ColoradoTJ, have you ever owned or otherwise had any experience with horses? I seem to remember that you have chickens and maybe some other farm animals…?

I don't own any horses but have been around them a lot in my younger days. That made me never want to own them.

On that day in 2010 when I went with Emily to the barn, Declan lifted his tail and dumped a load right there on the barn floor like it was nothing; I was laughing so hard, because I’m a guy and I think that damn near everything having to do with bodily functions is hilarious, but Emily immediately cleaned it up and it was as if there was nothing there…

I realized you need significant amount of land with good grass to feed a horse. Most of the family that farms or ranches has stepped away from horses due to food, vet bills, purchase cost, transporting, etc.

    SxS have replaced them.

You mean those off-road things that cost almost as much as a new car?

Cleaning up after two 75+ pound dogs while on a walk is bad enough!

Good man. It definitely can be a good change. I had to reinvent myself at 40

My wife had horses growing up. She jokes about wanting another one but I always tell her I ain't cleaning the mess.

Yep. Most don't go get the sporty ones. A ranger is all that needed.

You would gladly clean up after one if someone else was charging you. Room and board is spendy (unless you have acreage).

Exactly why she can clean it up!! Haha..

Her family had a 3 acre lot and a barn already when the parents bought it. The horses were free and I think $200 (about 50 years ago).
