Mini trucks are easy to upgrade with 2.5 sch 40 tube. not sure how they compare dimensionally to the Tacoma DS ends. I've but at least 4-5 this way..

    Why?

Bigger 80 ball? Robust birf? HP third? Or the classic 94+ FF9.5 rear end?

94+ FF rear end. My front end is a TG HP 8". The 9.5" should be a good match. Somehow the rear 8" held up in Moab.

Assuming you’re running a set of machined hub and big brake adapter to fit the Tacoma brake setup, why not run the tundra? If not, how did you fit the Tacoma rotors on and which calipers are you running?

Running floating rotor with a 2”x 1/2 bolt with a spacer washer, no big brake kit.
Seems to work for most people, I really haven t driven the truck much yet, I’m not quite done with the transition.

Interesting. I don’t think I seen a setup without the actual kit. Got some pictures of the entire setup?

If the Tacoma brake fits, I wonder if the Tundra setup will fit too. Interesting, as the big brake kit option from FROR will fit the Tundra combo.

It was just the Tacoma rotor, and used a 2nd gen 4runner caliper.
I am curious as well. I went the FROR route with mine.

FROR will work with Tundra calipers and Tundra rotors. Helped a buddy on his brake setup using the FROR setup, 100% will work.

Correct. That is what I have on mine. I was referencing the video where he used a 2nd gen 4runner caliper on the stock Toyota knuckles. I assume that the Tacoma/Tundra mounting is different vs the 2nd gen runner.

Ahh. TBH, the only benefit with the taco rotors and 2nd gen calipers is the ease of changing rotor. You really don’t benefit with better braking as the pads contact remains the same. At this point, I would rather upgrade the brake system to utilize larger rotors and calipers because you will eventually go taller tires and use heavier wheels. Makes no sense to go SA and use smaller (as provided by TG) brake combo when the factory Taco/3G4R brakes are better.

This is all a learning experience for me, I have Tacoma rotors and calipers on the axle now, I bought hubs, spindles and aisin locks, off of a local guy who was getting stuff together to do a swap, he pulled out, I got lucky with timing to buy his stuff, once I had the parts, I researched all the applications, learning curve, I could have gone a different way, spent more or less money, the gravity drags the cash out no matter what.
There will be upgrades and next times…

1GTaco/3G4R/Tundra calipers is different from 2G setup. I thought @Qwerknf was using Tacoma calipers and Tacoma rotors, that’s why I asked because I haven’t seen a setup unless it’s with FROR big brake upgrade kit. I thought someone came up with a cheap solution minus buying the kit.

The combo @Qwerknf reference and use is to allow a floating Tacoma rotor vs a 1-piece unit using vented 60 series rotor. This makes rotor change much easier but other than that, no brake benefit.

Agreed with @02hilux regrading smaller brakes. IDK why TG and other company even offer that package, to use smaller brake combo on heavier truck. Will be a no brainier to sell their “SA kit” to include the big brake, especially when 40+ and beadlocks are the norm and the days of 35/37 are long gone. Eventually, 42 & 44 will be the normal size tires with all the rut on the trail.
