Yeah there's a massive stigma around frame damage and safety, which is valid. Thats kind of why I said to do a reinforcement plate, not that I would really think its all that necessary, but to advice something that would make him comfortable about driving it again.

Whats kind of funny about that is the things we do like steel bumpers are in my opinion much more likely to amplify harm to others in an accident than a slightly compromised frame would, and he seemed open to a high clearance steel rear bumper to cover up the bedside damage lol

If I had the choice I'd much rather rear end his already buckled frame than like my square frame and 1/4" steel 2x6. Bet it would be nice and soft and absorb it smooth

Can anyone confirm an R150 from a 2001 Tundra would bolt into my Tacoma? This is what ChatGPT told me below, but obviously I’m not sure if it’s accurate.

That bell housing for only $100 seems like the better deal since the transmission is GTG

 

It’s hard to know for sure, it’d suck to do all the work to replace the bell housing only to find out the internals are also fubar. I asked on bobistheoilguy and the consensus seemed to be to go for the complete trans
