Yeah there's a massive stigma around frame damage and safety, which is valid. Thats kind of why I said to do a reinforcement plate, not that I would really think its all that necessary, but to advice something that would make him comfortable about driving it again.

Whats kind of funny about that is the things we do like steel bumpers are in my opinion much more likely to amplify harm to others in an accident than a slightly compromised frame would, and he seemed open to a high clearance steel rear bumper to cover up the bedside damage lol

If I had the choice I'd much rather rear end his already buckled frame than like my square frame and 1/4" steel 2x6. Bet it would be nice and soft and absorb it smooth

Threw on the water table for kicks.

I could run the silicone between the two parts but I'm not just in case I have to take anything apart.

Billy Bob doesn't even have to act. This is a natural Garland County and western Ouachita attitude and accent. I grew up with that accent and attitude. I worked to loose it the accent. I still have the attitude.
We blend with people from around the Holland Tunnel. Small world but some of my good friends grew up with him.

The subtleties like "I don't want to pay ye damages", and "it takes a check to make ye do that donnn't it"

Easily one of the better pieces of propaganda I've seen made for the oil and gas industry... I mean that seriously, as a story it is interesting and the acting is good.

Yep.. Its kind of crazy to watch when I know the personalities in the background. No oil company experience for me to opine about.

The money is already in your pocket. Why spend it to hope you get it back.

Hopefully that is Plasti-dip spray that will peel or wash off.

Can anyone confirm an R150 from a 2001 Tundra would bolt into my Tacoma? This is what ChatGPT told me below, but obviously I’m not sure if it’s accurate.

    Component
What to Check Why It Matters
    Transmission (R150F)
Confirm it came from a V6 4WD Tundra (usually 2000–2004) That ensures gear ratios and bellhousing match.
Transfer Case Compare shift linkage & output flange Tacoma and Tundra sometimes differ in linkage style and output spline/companion flange.
Transmission Mount & Crossmember Compare bolt hole alignment and shape You may need to reuse your Tacoma crossmember/mount.
Driveshaft Length Measure output shaft and driveshaft lengths Tundra trans might be slightly longer — minor but worth checking.
Shifter Position Confirm the shifter doesn’t hit the dash or sit too far back R-series shifters can vary slightly in placement.
Clutch Slave Cylinder Compatibility Check the slave/fork setup Some R150 variants used different style slave cylinders or push rods.
Speed Sensor Setup Match your speedo cable or sensor type (mechanical vs electronic) Earlier Tacomas use a mechanical cable, later use VSS — may need to swap sensors.

That bell housing for only $100 seems like the better deal since the transmission is GTG :notsure:

Like any show, it has its moments but mostly unrealistic
