I’m also left eye dominate but still shoot right handed. Bad days I’ve got to blink my left eye to kick focus onto my right but it’s just how I’ve always done it.

60% of the time, it works every time.

serious answer. Yes I’m a pretty good shot with both bows and firearms.

I had to order my bow left handed. Now I’m wondering if I should have just worked at getting used to my right eye.

lead time for my bow is 6-8 weeks lol

If you haven’t been doing it your whole life, left handed is better. Starting there is exactly what you should be doing

I’ve literally shot like this my whole life. I was 20 before someone had me test myself to see which eye was dominant lol. I’m used to it and too old to change it now.

    It does!

find a bow shop and make sure to get measured for arrows! They’ll give you some good direction on sights and rests. I do a drop away over a whisker biscuit but that’s just personal preference.

I also prefer a hook wrist release. I’d recommend starting with a wrist release first but test a few out at the shop and see what feels right.

I don’t know if I just progressed past their capability or if all the shops around me suck but I’ve never had a shop do a good job at anything.

Which is why I have my own archery shop equipment. The whole, “if you want it done right do it yourself” thing.

Same here. I just sight in with my right eye but if someone else (thats right eye dominant) were to shoot my bow they wouldnt hit shit with it.

My buddy switched to a left handed bow a few years ago (for the same reason) drawing it back when you're right handed aint no cake walk. I'll stick with shooting with the wrong eye.

Well I picked up a new saddle for next season. Right now is a great time to gear up, several sites have stuff discounted a bunch. Got it all tricked out this past weekend. Believe this will be a significant upgrade in function as well as comfort.

How big a fella are you? (Surely someone gets the Roy D Mercer reference)

I want to try a saddle but I’m 6’2 250 and am worried it’s gonna just end with numb legs and money lost. I like my climber but they limit you to only a handful of trees plus they are harder to lug around quietly

Do I need to pack a lunch? Saddle hunting does not appeal to me at all, I’m getting to old for that stuff.

I won't bow hunt any other way now, but its definitely not meant to replace anything; its just another tool in the shed. I much prefer climber or a tree seat for rifle hunting, especially if its an all day sit. I enjoy the saddle part, I don't much care for the climbing methods (sticks).

I only hunt private land so I use ground blinds, hang ons with climbing sticks or tower blinds. We also leave them in place all season so we can get in and out quietly. If I was younger or hunted public land I’m sure I’d probably have a saddle setup.
