How much does your Tacoma *WEIGH*?

I weighed my truck today out of sheer curiosity.

2007 DCSB 4x4 Base model 6spd.

Modifications include full sound deadening and subwoofers, which I weighed before installation, at exactly 100lbs, and 265/75R16 BFG Trail-Terrains, which weigh 10 pounds more than the original tires, times 4, so, 40 pounds.
Still have the spare tire in it. Truck does have a hitch on it, too. Not sure if original.
No gear inside, just my porky self (230 pounds).
And a full tank of gas.

Came out to 4,540 pounds.
Minus me and my modifications, the original weight of the truck, as it rolled off the assembly line with a full tank of gas, was 4,170 pounds.

It's definitely possible to get a sub-4,000 pound crew cab Tacoma without much work, if anyone is interested in a "lightweight" build, which I am.

Just thought I'd share.

 

I’m a 3rd gen owner but this 2nd gen thread had more recent activity so I read it, after weighting my 2016 DCSB for the first time. SoftTopper (30#?) full tank of gas (150#?). steel sliders (150#), me inside (maybe 170#) … that uses up a lot of GVWR with no extra tools or gear. 5120 lbs total, 2320 of that on the rear. Mine is TRD OR with sunroof and that big JBL subwoofer.

 

My truck has never weighed less than 6K when I've run it across a scale. Armor, 33" load E tires, etc... but it has also had either the fiberglass topper and all of my forestry and recovery gear, or my slide in camper loaded for elk hunting. I'm adding the 3rd skid plate and a bumper, so she needs to go on a diet. Ditching all of the steel recovery gear, only packing tools for MY truck, putting a tool box in the bed so I fill that, not the entire bed and topper. We'll see what the numbers are next time I roll over the scales.

I think this explains the "Taco Lean". Curious to see if anyone else has this issue and can weigh their truck...

 

The rear side to side was only 20 lbs different. The bigger difference would be the battery up front among other stuff.

Toyota should've put the battery diagonal from the tank to help offset the weight.

 

Think my access cab was around 4500lbs with a half tank of gas. including rubber bed mat, with some tools and recovery stuff in the cab too.

 

It’s been a few years but it was 5780# with both tanks full, 7 gallons of water, myself and packed for a 3 week trip.

I’ve removed some things and added some things since then.
Edit: just realized this is the 2nd gen forum. Oh well.

If anyone is interested in a fun experiment with weight reduction... I managed to get my 2007 DCSB V6 4x4 Base model 6spd Tacoma to weigh 4,080 pounds. When I started, I weighed 4,540 pounds. It was just me (230), a rear sway bar (25lbs), a full tank, 265/75/16 BFGoodrich Trail-Terrains (10lbs per tire heavier than stock), and 100lbs worth of sound deadening and subwoofers/amps/box, etc.
I lost 460 pounds!
And there was more weight to save, such as the headliner, door panels, etc. It could go under 4,000 pounds if I tried.
Anyway, here's some weight numbers...

Spare tire- 55lbs
Jack+tools- 15lbs
Rear seats+brackets- 65lbs
My audio equipment- 55lbs
Under Rear seat storage box- 5lbs
Miscellaneous trim+hardware- 5lbs
Drained washer fluid- 10lbs
Passenger seat- 50lbs
Tailgate- 33lbs
Gas light was on (only 2 gallons of gas)- 110lbs
Carpet- forgot
Center console- forgot

The truck liked it. It would spin when I jammed it in 1st, pulled noticeably harder, and it rode way stiffer in the rear, similar to a heavy-duty truck from the lack of weight in the back. Definitely a fun experiment!

 

I got my truck weighed in preparation for CA registration last week... it was 4,130 pounds. 2015 Access Cab V6 4x4

 

Are you the grinning fool (haha-loved those pics!) with the <30k mile Tacoma from Washington? Congrats on that find if you are the same. Sorry for the assumption if you are not.


I'm at 7300 fully loaded with my fat ass, my wife, 2 boys, the dog, extra fuel/water and a week's worth of food. We have a Habitat, steel bumpers, homemade drawers, etc. Prolly should look at Tacoma weight watchers, but where's the fun in that? haha

 

haha yes that is me, I am that fool. Still grinning... won't be for long once I see my taxes and registration cost at AAA.

When I had my 2006 Titan Quad, I weighed it - 5,550 lbs. Easy number to remember.

I'm shocked that our Taco's weigh in close to that.
