So I noticed a fluid leak while changing my oil, I believed the techs who did my last dealer oil change must have not tightened something correctly. so I did the oil change and took my time, making sure everything was perfect.
Cleaned up the undercarriage of the fluid that was there and buttoned her up.
The next day the fluid had come back I wasn't sure what was going on.
I scheduled an appointment with the local dealer and after inspection they said I needed a new power steering pump.
luckily this happened still under warranty and its supposed to be back to me today.

Never heard of this failing before but i'm glad its covered.

Most likely a timing cover leak and not the PS pump. The TC leak drips off the bottom of the PS pump.

Search it on here...very common on the 3.5L. Not so much in the newer years but the 16-19 was VERY common within the first oil change time. Essentially, improper or inferior RTV sealant around the timing cover caused oil to seep.

The service department just called me and said that its 100% a power steering pump leak and that it is not the timing cover.
they supposedly checked that and that it is not the issue.

    I can only hope
anything I can do to protect my self in this matter?

Invoice states that it is leaking out of the front seal of the power steering pump

More like a part defect….and exactly why it has a warranty.

part defects should be just about nonexistent, especially that it's a long running 3rd gen tacoma production lol.

Well that being the case why should Toyota bother putting a warranty on the truck in the first place?

my 2023 SR V6 steering seems to have gotten a lot stiffer of the past 2 years. But the PS fluid tank level has always been good. Did you experience the same with your issue or was the fluid level low in the tank because it leaked out?

honestly..... I never checked the levels.
as soon as I saw fluid under the truck I brought it in.
    seemed to be driving fine.
there was not much on the ground under the truck,
it was on the chasis from driving under power.
