If you're going to, do it right and don't be a bitch :luvya: My BIL is in that team, and I'll often repair their armor.

    It's a full contact sport.

When we first met, I'd hang out with him and his buddies and go sparring.

Didn't realize he was into MMA until then, so he and I never sparred considering our difference in height/weight.

He and his team compete and will fly out all over, as they had one competition in FL.

Old pic of me fixing some of their stuff - now he just drops it off and I'll knock out the repairs real quick.

    IMG_8847.jpg

The last competition was streamed on Youtube live - when he's not throwing blows, he's grabbing fuckers and straight up tossing them.

Been having so much fun with the glue gun that Amber approved the requisition for my grad gift!

How’d I do? Got a brand new/open box Hobart Multi Handler 200 (sitting in dude’s filthy garage collecting dust but never used and all the torches, leads, etc still in their plastic) and a used ESAB Sentinel A60 hood (needs a new lens cover but optic is perfect) for $450!!

Just hooked it all up and played with it a little tonight and I’m seriously impressed! Buttery smooth and laid big beautiful beads right out of the gate. Completely different animal than the HF rig I’ve been using. Can’t wait to learn stick and TIG too!

Still a tad skunky if you really bury your face in his fur and take a whiff, but on the plus side he hasn’t been this soft and fluffy in forever thanks to the countless baths

I’m about to have an extra 20-30 hr/wk I haven’t had in a few years so I’m stoked to be equipped to do some cool shit!

Amber is heavily involved in a nonprofit who can always use a hand with some project or another, so it will be an awesome win-win!

Whoops, I took a few days off traveling right right after posted that.

I feel like the setup could be better, but i don't know what's actually possible or reasonable to expect.

I got my shocks from TMFF, he had tuned them for his truck with 700lbs springs. I have 600lbs on them now (on a much lighter truck), with 5100 rears and Deaver J59 with the shortest leaf removed. I've been looking at switching to Fox rears to get rebuildability/tunability.

A suspension engineer I used to know (he moved away to work for Fox) said he thought the setup felt solid to him, but the rebound in the rear was a bit harsh. He only drove on pavement though.

My assessment is that that the truck feels unstable above 25mph or so on washboarded dirt roads. It also feels harsh over expansion joints at low speeds and has a lot of body roll in sharp turns. I still have sway bar installed. It does feel great cruising at highway speeds though.

Part of the reason I wanted to try my own hand at tuning was to learn what's possible through experimentation, so I can feel the changes myself. I know some of the theory, but I hate talking about tunes without really knowing how different tunes feel.

I just saw this beautiful purple 5 speed single cab here in town. This has gotta be my favorite color on a Tacoma.

It should be getting here next month. Hopefully we’ll be able to get it running with whatever parts I can scrounge up.
