Keystone State Thread

My state is out of my tax bracket. Plus the towns here are so tight and right next to each other. I always see high end cars around. Like it's normal traffic how often you see them. Just 2 towns to my east also only a 5mi drive is one of the wealthiest towns in nj. Colts neck where Trump has 1 of his golf courses at. These homes out there still memorize me. They are massive. I've checked to see what some of these property taxes are like 32k a year. I've seen some for 48k a year. Smh.

 

And here I am complaining about my $3K a year.

I swear though if my township gets their wish and re-assess stuff I am SOL...

They really are insane. Once you get past the showgrounds, it transforms from somewhat normal to batshit wealth. I reference colts neck all the time when talking about the wealth in NJ and how it isn’t all “Jersey Shore” bs.

Ha. In NJ, a “normal” home will run you $10k/year in property taxes.

My house is 12.5k a year in taxes. My town 15years ago use to be what most call the hood. Now they've turned the town around which is agree is for the better. Thank God.

12.5 is still a lot. In fact that's high. Maybe wages are higher in NJ to help offset. I'm around 3.5 a year. Counties around me are less.

Jersey is just greedy. And I'd assume some wages can be higher. But in reality that's just not the case. Luckily one of my brothers lives with me to offset some of the bills. Both of us are divorced lol. So it works. Just 5years ago it was 7k a year. This state and property taxes is insane.

 

My cousin moved to South Carolina cuz she and her husband couldn't afford to live here anymore. Within 3 month of them living in sc they had a 4 bd 2 1/2 bath house built for 300k. That's not happening in jersey. You'll spend more just for the lot. My house has been passed down essentially from my grandparents to my parents and now me. I've lived in other states. But nothing is like home so I always ended back here in jersey.

 

@steelcity2 I also think it's because of location also. During covid a shit ton of new yorkers moved to jersey my area and pumped up home prices. I'm 45mins from new York Manhattan. Roughly 25 to 30min to Staten Island. And 1hr 20min from Philly. And about the same to Atlantic city.

 

Yea, that makes sense. Feel bad for the older people on fixed income.

 

Morning all I called off sick today with a case of the phuckets .
Almost 4 more hours of sleep and I feel great . By the time I get some coffee in me it will be time time to eat lunch
I’m heading to the frosty hook it’s a bar but the food is 10 out 10 and the cost is for a 24 oz porter house steak is like $26.00

A common practice among people who were renting vehicles while theirs are in the body shop is to leave the rental vehicle at the body shop for us to pick up when theirs is done; I was driven to a Caliber Collision to pick up a Subaru Impreza, and the flooding was really starting to get bad…
