    Hey guys,

These are some shots down my front boxed areas on my 2011 TRD off road. The flaking metal image is from the left side next to the cat. Is there much I can do to help the inside to get some of that out or is my only option now to douse it in a rust protectant? The boxed sections are solid as a rock when hit with a hammer. The flaked portion is still solid but obviously thinner. A friend who does auto-body said he can plate and weld that part. My main concern is managing what's inside the boxed area. The rest of my frame is still mostly black.

    Thanks again.

I would just coat the inside of the box channel on a hot summer day with wool wax. Use one of those 360 degree straws and have at it. Theres not really much else you can do. The inside of those channels are probably pretty typical for most people that live in a humid or marine environment. Bare metal rust in moist climates and that’s why it’s important to protect it.

Yeah, 5 years of Michigan winters. Hate to admit it but haven't done anything up until this point. Winter came and went before I realized it.

You could always go the Safe T Cap route if you go the welding on plates route

If there's good metal left to weld to they can be really helpful.

This isn't bad compared to other trucks I've seen here in the midwest. Get some cavity wax and fill the inside of the boxed sections, remove the flaking rust from the other section and paint it or have it plated over.

    :101010: Per your thread title…

as previously mentioned, patch panels can be ordered in sections to repair the perforated areas. The rest: CLEAN and PROTECT!

Gotcha. No holes yet, but may my buddy's shop check out the flaking section.
