    Absolutely.

I don't mind helping people, I find it somewhat rewarding even. What I despise is seeing anyone taken advantage of and being unable to help them. Obviously I can't fault the storage company for this. They have no clue what someone is putting in these units and only care that you're not putting in anything on their list of prohibited items. This was just a situation where there was no way of winning. In this woman's mind the objects being stored were precious to her and she couldn't bear the thought of parting with them. There was no other family in the area that could store things for her long term. The new place she was moving to was smaller so she would have less storage herself. We no longer have contact with her since Covid has meant my g/f now works from home. I can only hope that she managed to come up with a better plan and that she didn't waste too may months paying storage fees on what was surely less than $500 in art supplies.

    Good Morning everyone :hattip:

Very warm temps here today with a High temp of 87° . Severe weather forecasted for overnight thru early morning . Also tommorow night has a severe weather threat

Reading all the posts here on Medical coverage , I'm happy with the medical care at the VA Nashville med center . All the VA Medical centers are run with Doctor's from local Hospitals such as the VA here . This Med center has Doctor's and surgeons from Vanderbilt University

My sister and I made a road trip to Albuquerque to see my brother, and on the way back we ran into a terrific ice storm. Lots of cars off the road, mostly highway patrol and Jeeps, but others too. There was a guy standing on the side of the road where a car was in the ditch, and we stopped to give him a lift. George Carlin. He knew right away that I recognized him and was not happy. Didn't say more than a few words, just asked us to drop him as soon as we could at a Denny's (mighta been Sambo's at that time). Didn't say thank you or anything else. He was a smart guy, but I suspect he lived a depressed life.

I'm rather glad there are so many options for storage; last summer when we moved down from New Hampshire to Maryland, we had waaaay too much stuff for our new condo, so much in fact we filled two 10x25 foot storage lockers. Unfortunately, time being what it was, I had to settle for the first place I could get into on short notice; this place was poorly maintained, rarely cleaned (if ever), and freakin' expensive. With the move accomplished, we had the luxury of being able to shop around a bit and found a storage site closer, cleaner, and half the cost. Since then, we handed off significant quantities to our kids of their stuff, donated multiple loads, and are on the cusp of consolidating our remaining stuff into a single unit. :)

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/hoarders. We have "storage units" going up like crazy around here too, they look like this:

Talking about Medicare: if you're not paying anything at all out of pocket, can I assume you have a Medicare Advantage plan? Medicare Part A and Part B both have annual deductibles; many Medicare Advantage plans pay those for you.

Storage units are being built around my area as well Jim, but there is a large amount of apartment uits being built as well. Young folks don't want to own anymore so they rent and I guess they need storage for the crap they don't have room for in the apartment :notsure::facepalm:.

I have Medicare and a supplemental plan (not an advantage plan). I do have some out of pocket expenses but is not much. Between wife and I we probably pay a couple hundred annually out of pocket but if you saw the total paid medical bills that’s nothing. Most is paid 100%. Besides previously mentioned wife er visit and my kidney stone surgery (paid 100%), last year I was seen in er and hospitalized For a bad reaction to a medication. Bill was $19000. Paid 100%. So while I do have some annual out of pocket it’s pretty minimal, especially when you look at total charges. We have no co pays.

I agree it sucks. SS should never have been taxed. Keep your fingers crossed, the tax on SS will likely be reduced or eliminated soon.

I am on a quest to see how many numbers my Samsung phone can block.

Good afternoon. Garage is first level clean. Later on June I am going to do deep clean of everything in the garage. Potted 7 plants into pots this morning. Time for a walk.

Not sure what that means... but I'm sure glad I paid in so that I have it. One of the best investments I've made.

I agree with you 100%. What I meant is that our SS should not be subject to federal (or state) income tax. It should be tax free. Originally it was exempt from federal income tax but they changed that around 1985. Congress will likely change this soon so it will not be subject to federal income tax.
Unbelievably California doesn’t tax SS , they tax everything else. Some states tax it , some don’t.

Thunderstorms later (OH). I'm going to assemble an outdoor display cabinet today, weather permitting. Looks easy, but I'm sure I'll find a few things to complain about. Keeping the love of my life happy, is top priority. I'm glad I can still do a few things for her. She's the absolute best thing ever happened to me. She keeps my sanity moving in the right direction. Thank you, Big Guy, for loaning her to me.

New high-speed internet connection went south two days ago and was repaired yesterday. Glad they're on the ball with repairs... only a matter of time before we find out the hard way. Seems like people get crazy about no internet. What did we do, when it didn't exist? I actually remember some of those days... all is not lost.
