im really loving it! the sound even with stock exhaust is just great! the power is just perfect for me for around town fun and good highway where it doesnt vibrate like crazy! first bike ive ever owned that doesnt vibrate me to death at 70mph lmao. mine is a bit heavier if i remember right compared to the mt09 but it still has the light and fun playfulness it feels like.

That was one thing immediately noticeable when I got my tenere. Highway cruising was so much better. Also the wind protection.

I'm doing a ride with a couple of old friends this weekend. We are starting out at a church for the blessing of the bikes. One friend has a honda vtx1800, his brother has a new dresser Indian, and me on the bonneville. I've known these guys since we where teenagers. We all worked in a moped shop back in the day.

Holy crap I did legs yesterday. All I did was 100 body weight squats 4x25, then a couple sets of 10 on the leg press 100lbs which is pretty easy. With the leg press I do calf raises too. My legs are destroyed!!! Feels like I lifted super heavy. It hurts but it’s the good kinda hurt.

Anyone ever thought of doing a Fumoto Valve on their bike? I never did until I was looking at one for the Tundra and saw a section to input a motorcycle on their site.

    upload_2025-5-15_13-55-18.png

The ST has two drain plugs and they are kinda at an angle, so I think with a skid on my bike I could run one in each spot and not have to worry about hitting the valve. Now, it's not like I'm under the bike or it's really hard to get to the bolts, but the valve might make it so I could do the change without taking the skid off, and I'm lazy, so that has an appeal. I've had fumotos on two vehicles now and love them, but I wouldn't put one on my bike. However, I have looked at a stahlbus oil drain. Same kind of concept, but a push in ball valve and way more compact with a screw on cover.

Any bigger guys need/want some new gear? I've got a Joe Rocket 2xl jacket brand new ($175) and some nice kevlar and padded riding jeans ($85) 38/32 also brand new. It's all way too big for me now, bought last year but lost a shit load of weight.

I powder coated the monkey tank today. Started with epoxy primer powder then top coat of obsidian black and gloss clear over that. It came out ok but not perfect. I got a couple pieces of fuzz in the clear but not enough to sweat it. If I wanted I could wet sand with 2000 grit and polish the clear but it’s just a mini bike so not too worried.
I also ordered a black side cover to replace the red.

Just showed my wife. She doesn’t like it. She liked the chrome fenders and red paint because it looked retro. Good thing it’s not her’s. I like it because now it doesn’t look like all the rest.

Is your reason for not putting it on a bike a fear of hitting it/losing ground clearance? I ask because I don't think that's as much of an issue for the ST.

The one you linked would be fine if I didn't have a skid plate. The point of the Fumoto for me would be to eliminate the need to remove the skid, but to get to that one and twist/push it the plate would still have to come off. At that point I'd rather just keep the OEM plugs.

The skid has two holes, one for each drain, on the left side bottom corner of the skid.

    upload_2025-5-15_15-5-42.png

    upload_2025-5-15_15-6-25.png

The bolts come out of the pan at an angle and protrude quite a bit, but are still completely above the skid when it is installed. Circled the two drain bolts below.

    upload_2025-5-15_15-8-23.png

I think there's room for the Fumotos and since the valve can be operated with one finger, there should still be enough room to leave the skid on and get the oil out. Still, I think I'd have to remove the skid for the filter, unless I cut the plate. Not sure I'm opposed to this, but it's not like the skid is hard to pull. Just a little tedious.

Not really a fan of SW Motech stuff on this bike, but Alt Rider doesn't make stuff for it anymore. :pout:
