Favorite Whiskey?

I broke down and joined Blind Barrels, got my first 4-pack a few weeks back. My BIL came by Saturday and we tried bottle "A" of the hot pack. He didn't enjoy as much as I did until I told him it was a hot pack, most likely cask strength. I haven't done the reveal yet. . .

I have my father's last property in escrow. When it finals on 5/28 (oh please, oh please, oh please) I promised my BIL I'm picking up a bottle of Pappy. He knows where one is, I know where another is. When he sold his house a few years ago, he bought us a pour of 12 at a local bar. We both prefer the 10.

 

Rare Breed. Delicious. That's all I have to say.

 

Let me know what you think of the 8yr, that's next on my list to try.

The liquor store by my house is in Idaho. They never carry it. The grocery store does but it’s on the wa side of the state line. They only put one bottle out of it at a time but it’s usually priced above 50$. This week it’s listed at 42$.

Wa is pretty dumb with their liquor tax anyways so it would be 55ish dollars after tax.

 

Just wondering. It's regularly that price at my local Vons. Albeit, it can be hard to come by at times.

I’m a buyer at $42 100%. ER is a bottle I gift a lot to people getting in to whiskey and everyone loves it. Including me!!

Wow…. That’s what like a 30% tax rate! Holy hell.

 

There’s two taxes.

One is 20.5% of value of bottle.

Then there’s a second flat tax which is a couple bucks. Looked it up, it’s 3.7708 per liter.

Then state sales tax.
