    Guys,

I need some assistance. I’ve been fighting an issue with my AC for quite awhile. I have had it charged professionally 3-4 times and it always seems to last about 2 months then it stops cooling. I have replaced all seals and cannot locate a leak with the UV dye. Pressure tested evaporator and no leaks there. I’m just confused at this point. Have any of you guys experienced this? If so what was the fix? It has 228,500 miles on it. I’ve owned it since it was new off the lot.

    Any Advice is appreciated.

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
Not an expert but it's gotta be a leak, right? It's leaking somewhere and pretty substantial if the recharge only lasts that long.

You certainly have leak if your having to constantly add refrigerant.
Sometimes the compressor seals will leak and not show any dye/oil, service port valves are also relatively common as are hoses but those should show oil/dye.

I would definitely agree that I have a leak. However, I don’t know where it is at. I’ve considered just replacing the compressor and condenser. And see if that fixes issue. But this thing is driving me a bit crazy.

If you know someone that has a refrigerant leak detector they may be able to find it but I've never had much luck with them. Otherwise dye and a good UV light finds most leaks.

Do you notice any odd smells inside especially after it sits for awhile? Typically with an evaporator leak you would get a strong oil smell out of the vents for a bit when you first turn it on.

No smell really. I just ordered all the components to replace the system. The wife can’t handle our GA heat anymore. I’ve been fighting it for about a year and half now. She said she’s tired of the troubles lol. I’m gonna investigate as I tear down to see if I can find failure point.
