I have a 2001 3.4L V6 manual that has been throwing a p0171, I have never changed the O2 sensors so I assumed the upstream is bad. I removed the upstream sensor and the wiring harness is around 21" long. I got a replacement Denso 234-9001 and opened it up to find the wiring harness is only about 10" long. Every site I have checked out does not have a wiring harness that matches the one I took out. Does anyone know what is going on?

I did run into a reddit link about it being a Denso replacement issue and to just cut the old harness and solder it but that seems like a pain. I have not found any other brands that have the long harness either.

Unless something has changed in recent years, you don't want to solder those lines, they are highly sensitive to resistance, if you solder an extension you will almost certainly be changing the reading from the sensor.

Thanks for the heads up - it’s just bizarre like I have a car part that doesn’t exist

I am not familiar with the V6 but I am sure people that are will chime in.

ETA: I am sure that a Toyota dealership can provide the correct replacement. Maybe check yotashop.

The Part# you said you got is for an Auto.
    234-9001
The one for a manual is 234-9003
