Now that the weather is nice and I am driving with the windows down, I frequently notice a very quick "chirp" sound when accelerating from a stop. It seems to come from the driver's side, and only once, but it's not every time - maybe half. Might be happening between low gears, but I'm still not 100% sure on the when. It is not the turbo whistle sound; it is much higher pitched, almost like a metal-on-metal squeak. Any thoughts??

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
Pulley? Something from the belt? Would really suck from a new truck.

now that you say that, it does resemble a belt chirp sound. but it's so specific to takeoffs, i don't know.

Some of them had an issue with the ac belt chirp....
dont recall let alone conflicting info on approach of repairs, belt tensioner & belt vs actually replacing the ac compressor.
TAKE IT IN!!!! Dont wait, no, not at the next oil change, yesterday....

My first 24 sr5 had the noise but never dug into it further as I was in middle of buyback & had plenty of ammo already....
Dont necessarily need to be moving but shortly after starting, you would get just a real quick 1 time squeak...
Just 1x, till you turn it off & let it sit for some time, repeat...

Could it be chirp of the tires? :burnrubber:

Something I've never heard in my 3rd gen. :p

My 1st thoughts are either a bad pulley or U-Joint. But neither of those should be an issue on a 2024.

    here's what I know...
    my sr5 made the chirp
it was few seconds after starting the vehicle, just 1x after starting, after sitting for some time
ive dealt with probably multi thousands of belt / accessory related repairs in the lifetime of my ford career so know a thing or 2
I never had mine looked at by dealer...
    few posts here,
suggested 1 toyota tech replaced the ac compressor on 1 truck
while another tech replaced belt tensioner, or belt & tensioner, as I stated I dont recall exactly....

Both repairs could make sense depending on what they found, thats they key, what did they find.....
AC compressor clutch could easily make the noise at initial lock-up / engagement, on the tacoma theres engagement regardless if your climate control, vent, ac, etc is on or off, your system can be completely shut off & your compressor will still cycle on / off, I have a post about that.....
I can also see how maybe after sitting for some time you can have a faulty tensioner or compromised belt also causing that quick initial squeak....

Thats all I got, theres a thread around here somewhere about it...
My 24 sr5 made the noise daily, once it started making it, didnt do it from day 1 though so something did change...

All that being said, the op may not be experiencing what im describing....
What im describing is more of just a quick very short squeak shortly after starting the truck only...
Has nothing to do with "take-off"

Okay, thanks so much for expounding. I usually don't roll with my windows down, but I'll start leaving the driver's window down when parking in my garage to see if I hear it on startup.

What else was wrong with your SR5 that made you want to trade it in for your TRD?

I liked the sr5 ALOT, actually somewhat prefer it over the sport & offroad, wanted the 14" display....
It got bought back due to paint defects, I made thread documenting it...

yeah, this very specifically upon accelerating in low gears - nothing to do with how long the truck has been running. it can happen from any stop (or any time i slow down to the lowest gears).

it is hard as hell to pin down, but to me it doesn't sound like it's coming from the engine bay. my kid put the passenger window down, and said he can only hear it faintly coming through my window. so i think it's something on the driver's side.

so weird. might drive me insane. nobody else huh?

one thing i keep going back to is the insane clunking i would get from the n-fabs i put on my 3rd gen, when i would go over hard bumps unevenly. but it took me FOREVER to realize it was the running boards making the noise, it was something about the way the flexed/how they were bolted. so i wonder if it's something stupid like that.

Only chirp I hear on mine is the tires when I accelerate.

One more thing, this may be it...
Check / try to further secure the extra dangling chain that secures your spare tire...

Gotcha. I think I would've liked the 14 inch screen too, but the rest of the upgrade to the TRD Sport wasn't worth it to me. Love my SR5 4x4 tons, other than the craptastic wheels SET put on it (whole 'nuther conversation, you can check my posts on it).
