Hi guys - first time Tacoma owner here with a 2023 Trail Edition.

I’m about to have this lift installed:https://store.arbusa.com/mt64-kit-fr-2-in-0-330-lb-rr-2-in-660-lb-1105k/

I want to run Nitto Ridge Grapplers in size LT285/75R16 E 126/123Q.

I really like the bronze OEM wheels, which I THINK are +25mm offset. Will those work with this lift/tire combo? If not, any recommendations for wheel specs I should look for?

    Thanks!

I think most members will tell you 285 will rub, regardless of lift size. You may have to remove your mudflaps, or/and do a cmc.

    Good luck, and welcome.

Ok, thanks! Maybe I should go down a notch on tire size. I appreciate the input!

Between the width of a 285 and the offset of an aftermarket rim, changes everything.

I went the 33" pizza cutter route, and was able to keep the mudflaps, stock UCAs and all. Now I have gobs of ground clearance.

In a nutshell, you want just enough offset to not have your tire wall rub your UCA anywhere during full steering rotation. This will minimize contact rubbing in the back of the wheel well/ body mount, as well as in front of the wheel well/bumper cover plastic

Remember that offset is a measurement in millimeters. +25 offset 16"D by 7"W is a common stock size wheel. The typical stock size tire is 265/70r16. Going up to a 285 width tire is another 20mm of width, nearly an inch. On that same wheel, that means about 1/2" less inside UCA clearance. If the UCA rubs the tire sidewall at any point of turning, which it likely will, you'll need to get a more negative offset wheel, say +10 minimum, or add a small wheel spacer to that same wheel, to get back the inside space lost due to wider tire.

I believe many guys run the mild positive offset TRD Pro wheels with 285 width tires. I can't recall anyone saying they run +25 offset wheels and 285s.

Maybe I’ll go with these: https://racelinewheels.com/collections/truck-suv/products/951bz-ryno

0 offset, which brings the tire out 1” if I’m understanding everything correctly. That should work given this: “Going up to a 285 width tire is another 20mm of width, nearly an inch. On that same wheel, that means about 1/2"less inside UCA clearance.” That should work, I think? Except that wheel is 16x8 instead of 16x7.

I pretty much have a similar set up as you are planing. You will definitely be better off with the Ryno 0 off set wheels (0 offset is ideal IMHO). I went with DX4 16X8 with +10 offset and run 285/75R16 (33s) just fine with no rubbing - but because I wanted to make sure I would have no rubbing when off road I did get a CMC and a viper cut - over kill ? maybe but I did not want to deal with rubbing issues playing in the dirt and over the rocks. Also I wanted to leave room to go bigger 34s or 35s . . . . have not decided yet.

A +25 will likely rub the upper control arm.

A zero offset will likely require trimming the plastic fender flare, mud flap removal, and will likely require a high caster alignment. You still might rub when really flexing the suspension when rock crawling. On the street is likely fine.

OP is considering 0 offset - I think his suspension plan looks OK in terms of lift. As I stated earlier my suspension set up is similar and I run 33s - I did a CMC and viper cut because I go off road - I wouldn't say mine or the OP's set up would be for hard core rock crawling but definitely can do some of the harder stuff taking a good line with good spotters. But you are right - I should have mentioned I removed the mud flaps and also not to say it required but I went with SPC UCA to make the alignment a bit easier but I understand lots of folks stay with the stoc UCA. I did some other things - none of which you have to do - U-bolt flip, spindle gussets, exhaust re-route, cut the exhaust off just past the axle, extended bump stops. I just tried to get rid of the low hanging stuff and tighten things up a tad. So far it has worked out great - the operative words - so far.

Looks like alot of speculation in here but no real world experience so far.

I ran a 17x9 +1 with a 285/70r17 duratracs a few years ago. No cmc minor trimming and still had mudflaps.

Lift varied anywhere from 3-2". Added a bumper and winch that dropped the lift a bit later on. Bolth spc and dirt king uca's have been used. Dirt kings are still on spc's are in the trash.

Never had a cmc with this set up. Was able to run rokblokz mud flaps with minor rubbing off road. High caster alignment was 100% necessary. The +25 will likely rub the uca and possibly the frame, based off what I saw with a +1. +10 to 0 is the sweet spot for ideal clearance with a 285.

    20220929_203844.jpg

You can see where it would touch the mud flap but never hit the cab mount. I did move the front fender liner forward just a touch aswell.

Yes it takes some extra work to fit and you bet you will notice the extra weight but a 285 is not a bad size for these trucks. If you want simplicity and the ability to use your existing wheels the 255/80r17 is a better fit. (I don't know if there is a 255/85r16 for a true skinny 33)
