Well, I hated my last neighbors (hoarders on one side, renters that changed frequently on the other side), so I sold the house and moved. :rofl:What do you want changed about the fence?

Yes, I would have moved too. I would like it to look good. He tricked me, he said he would put up a new fence, I was of course thinking ALL new, not just 16' new, 3' reclaimed and PAINTED RED, and 25' unchanged, and TREE PAINTED. This is a neighborhood, you know? I know, it's no HOA, but still. I guess if it was painted on my side too, that might help...

Usually fences are 50/50 cost between neighbors. I'm sure they're just trying to flip the house and pull their money out asap. You could talk to them about doing the entire fence or wait and try with the new neighbors.

HOA's suck. That's another big reason I moved along with the busy street behind the house. It was posted 35mph, but everyone did 50mph+ and with all the new subdivisions popping up it practically turned into a freeway. The house literally shook from all the traffic. The cities response to my complaint was to complain to PD traffic enforcement and pound sand. Kind of hard to enjoy the pool or bbq with that, but I digress.

Assuming the "nice" (aka no posts) side of the fence if facing you (that's how the law is here) and it's on your neighbor's property, there's probably not much you can do. People are dicks in this stupid real estate market. Politely ask if it can be painted? If not, I'd do it myself with a roller in a short amount of time. Sucks if that's the case.

    Any town ordinance regarding fences?

Well today was the "big" day. :goingcrazy:

Shut the power off to the pump and drained the tank. Biggest hurdle in my mind was getting the old 3/4 x 1/2 male adapter out of the tee. Well...

    Hah! I win!

Cut and removed the old softener system out of the way and started running my pipe.

Right after I drained everything I checked the pressure of the tank. 18psi. Ehh, that explains a couple things. It has been installed since 2012 so I doubt it has been drained and checked. In my haste I got everything together and turned the breaker on and purged all the air. Hey dummy, you didn't add air to the tank. Drained again and filled to 28psi for the 30/50 switch.

Internet recommended using a surge protector to plug it in to and I agree. To somewhat neatly put it up I cut some scrap lumber, attached it to the wall, and zip tied it.

    Final install

Hot water heater still has the hard water in it, but the cold water is finally soft testing it out! There's still a bit more 1/2 copper in the system, but it feels like pressure has gone up a little bit? I also noticed before just about every time you flush a toilet the pump would kick on. Now that I corrected the air pressure it takes a good while before pressure gets to 30 and kicks on. Guess I need to check that yearly now...

Yes they are doing a flip. I did ask them if they ran out of paint, they laughed and continued to be busy and ignore me.

No ordinance that would matter in this case I think, they actually replaced and moved it a few inches toward their property, which is another thing that is not quite obvious from my pic, so the fence is a little squiggley, by like 5". Yeah, I see it coming, I'll probably be painting this one myself.

What color works best for fences? Cedar color?

It's already been painted so you can't stain it a cedar toned color. Probably an exterior paint that matches cedar or some other wood toned paint. So many choices.

Usually fences make good neighbors, but erm, not this fence. Unfortunately it looks like you might be up the crick without a paddle. Around here if there not HOA and it's on your property there's no real rules against how neat it's installed. Sounds like the owner brushed you off. Only thing to do is wait for them to sell the place and maybe approach the new neighbors?

You have no dog in this fight. If that’s his fence on his property then nothing you can do with that fence.

If he’s “fixing” it up to sell. Then maybe the new owners will replace the fence. If not then you’re back in the same boat.

you could put your own fencing up, within your property, that basically will block the view of their fence.

You could also put some shrubs or something there to try and hide some of it.

Other than that, you’re going to have to deal with it then.

Fences are only 50/50 if you have nice neighbors.

Its 100% owners responsibilities and the neighbor (not putting up the fence) has no requirement to pay for it.

    Maybe.

Finished side facing me, so in this area that means it's his fence. I could ask him if I can paint my side.

Gotta say, thinking how to make the fence look more ghetto, ran through my mind.

Before he fixed it, trees were 85% on his property. And according to the survey.

Yeah, that would mean, if I want my side pained, I paint it.

Maybe I'll take a closer look at the law here, I didn't notice such wording on my first read through.

Sure. It's easier to shit on CA then admit you where wrong. Even Kansas has a shared fence law but you already knew that right?
