Anyone happen to have some King 3x14" 650-700# springs laying around they want to sell? I've got new shocks inbound but I don't think the 600# coils are going to cut it.

I don't, but Poly Performance has always been super fast getting me anything King related I've ever needed. they also have a king spring swap program. as long as the springs aren't damaged (take care to protect the powdercoat when installing and removing), they will swap out the springs for you at any time if you need a different rate or length. i forget the specifics, but i believe you just pay shipping for the old springs to them and new ones to you. it's outlined on their website.

Thanks man that's good advice. I was considering sourcing them from Summit if I can't find a used set. I've already got an account with them and it's free shipping, but the exchange program might tip me in the poly performance direction.

edit: seems like a cool idea but how do you mount and test spring while keeping them in "new" condition? I may just send it on the 700# springs and be done

edit 2: for anyone familiar with weights here's my truck's weigh in sheet from last week. John at Accutune said I was between 650 and 700# springs. This is the truck basically empty with me in the driver seat at ~185lbs.

i promise i don't work for Poly, but this might seal the deal for you.

I've had really good experiences talking to Poly on the phone. Unlike summit, all they do is off road, so all of their customer service folks can speak your language.
just checked out king and poly. both have free shipping, poly is $3 less per spring, and poly has 3''x14'' x 650 and 700. looks like summit only has 700 currently.

here's the link to the spring swap program.
    https://www.polyperformance.com/spring-swap-program

another good resource if you're on the fence between 650 and 700 is the total chaos customer service team. I spent a decent amount of time on the phone with them when i ordered the long travel. we spoke about bumper type, skid plates, winch size, and the roll cage design to determine the best starting spring rate. Just tell them you're running their stock length control arms, and I'm sure they'd have a similar conversation with you.

Awesome thanks man. All good advice. I edited my post above with more information on the truck. Accutune told me I'm between the 650 and 700# springs.

The other issue here is timing. I'm planning to get these in with some other stuff (CMR and rear shock relocation) just a couple weeks before doing a big trip. I don't think there would even be time to test things out do an exchange if I needed to.

it's not too difficult to keep them in "new" condition. you can get them dirty and then clean them, that's no issue. you just want to make sure you protect them while working on the truck. a lot of their clients, myself included are welding near the springs. weld splatter will melt right through powdercoat. there's also a lot of moving parts in a full on build, so lots of room to slam into the springs with a piece of tubing or a tool and chip/scuff the powdercoat. for you, all you really have to do is protect the spring from the spring compressor jaws. a few wraps of tape, or a piece of rubber between the spring and compressor jaw will do the trick. of course be consent of your surroundings while maneuvering the coilover into place on the truck. and lastly, make sure that while at full drop, your upper control arm doesn't contact the spring. 700 is probably a safe starting point, but it wouldnt hurt to have the ability to swap out. $100 a spring isn't bad, but a little extra care to do it for cost of shipping would be nice.

getting them on in time for a trip sounds like a great test opportunity. take care that they don't get banged up during install, and if you feel it's a bit harsh on the trip, you can swap them out when you get back.

So I was actually able to cancel the first order and buy the same coilovers for the same price that come with 700# springs. Definitely saved a few bucks there.

The 90 degree fitting for the reservoir hose on kings is notoriously a problem to work around when adjusting the preload. Most people end up needing to remove the coiliver to adjust it, but there are a couple of ways around that.

The risky way is to loosen the jamb nut on the 90 into the shock body, and you can spin the fitting back and forth about a quarter of a turn to fit the spud style collar wrench into place. Ive done it suxcessfully this way, but you risk seeping some oil and nitrogen pressure this way.

The better way is to make sure you have both spud style and spanner style collar wrenches. You essentially alternate using each one to be able to avoid the reservoir fitting interference. Makes adjusting them on the truck a piece of cake. My guess is that your coilovers will either come with the spud style wrench, or none at all.
The aluminum spanner wrenchnis available on Amazon or through kartek. Typically cheaper on kartek though. Make sure to get the spanner for 2.5" shocks, not 2.0

Over thee course of your trip, your springs will definitely settle, so it'll be important to be able to djust them, maybe even a few times, during your trip.
