LOL--Possibly not on TW, but in the real world, it would absolutely work that way. If you recall, Toyota supposedly "shit the bed" on the 3rd gen intro as well. My local dealer still has a super clean, loaded one owner 2022 Off Road with 33k miles. Despite multiple price reductions, it's been sitting there since February. Hopefully you are able to "get your equity", but I would be reasonable with your ask, especially if you can find a discounted 4th gen you really like. The right one would definitely be an upgrade!

You think the value of the 3rd gen 's increased percentage-wise same same as the MSRP increase on the 4th gen's?? It's not even close

Oh no--not 1 to 1 at all. Price reductions on new current generation vehicles will definitely have an effect on the trade in values of the older models. We saw the same things on the Jeep side when $10k discounts on Gladiators became reality. If customers can get a new vehicle for $5-10k off of MSRP it will definitely have an effect on trade in values downstream. Not a proportional effect due to the MSRP hike between the third and fourth gens, but as the price of a new fourth gen is drawn closer to the MSRP of the third, the used values of the third gen would definitely be negatively impacted.

I didn't see any Xtracabs those might sell better during a recession.

Around metro Phoenix whenever the 2021/22's came in they were gone in 48 hours.
Now you drive by the lots and there are tons of these 4'th Gens on the lot.

People aren't buying these and people are scared to spend money - they don't know which way the wind is going to blow hour to hour.
Tariffs are on, tariffs are off, tariffs are on again - who knows.

Gas jumped 30 cents a gallon the last few days. It had come down to 3.30 and yesterday I paid 3.60.
I suspect 4.00 a gallon in another few weeks.

Ive been buying Toyota trucks on and off for 25 years. The dealers in my general region rarely ever had had what I was looking for let alone in the particular color I wanted. If I got to me dealer and saw them stacked up like that sorted by color I'd prolly get freaked out and just leave LOL

It's cheaper to get ur gas (at the food court or at the fuel pump) at Costco. $3.28 regular, $3.88 premium in Snobsdale, AZ at the moment.

the cyber trucks are over priced and plagued by problems, not to mention a large % of their target buyers are now not looking at Tesla for a vehicle.

perhaps 4th gen Tacomas are selling more vehicles because 40-60k for a truck is cheaper than 75k-100k for a Chevy that will lose its engine faster than a Kia. But my $$ would not go to a 4th gen these days on price alone let along all the issues I see posted here… crappy paint, brake line issues, etc.
