Well here on Maui i just drove by Toyota of Maui dealer. Not one vehicle on the lot! Looked very weird, a empty lot and they are right on a major highway.

 

most dealers in San Diego deal alot, I got my sport for $5k'ish off msrp.
Just this one dealer thinks theyre special & doesnt matter what else is going on around the local market, they dont budge...
I gave the sales manager an earful about it, when his sales team was going on & on about were willing to do whatever it takes to make a sale..

Sales manager is trying to flip it on me that im a dick for price-shopping dealers.....

 

No one wants a 4 banger overpriced midsize truck.

 

Too bad that’s just not true, plenty of people are buying these 4 bangers.

Jan 2025 sold the 2nd most Tacomas in 20 years.

Feb 2025 sold the 4th most Tacomas in 20 years.

Mar 2025 sold the 2nd most Tacomas in 20 years.

Apr 2025 sold the 2nd most Tacomas in 20 years.

 

And people get unexpectedly fired/laid or quit because of increasing RTO requirements that make their lives unmanageable and or the market is slamming up and down violently and unpredictably for months on end and people are terrified about all aspects of their finances, ability to acquire or keep their housing, and can't afford healthcare. Could be a thing.

 

It looks like it has surpassed the Corolla to date this year.

 

I've tried Costco gas several times.

I find the engine 'dings', has less power, and gets lousier gas mileage than when I run Chevron or Shell in it.
It's worth for me it to pay another $3.00 per tank to use Chevron or Shell.

 

who has enough time in the day to drive to a costco and then wait in line like its 1973 again.

I buy the cheapest local and put in a bottle of Techron a couple times between oil changes and do a few WOT uphill onramps to help cook off carbon.

 

Funny how some have to try to justify their vehicle purchase by how many have been sold.

 

Gas quality varies by location for sure. I haven't gotten a bad batch from Snobsdale Costco. Other locations, yes.

All I’m doing is pointing out that your assumption is wrong. This generation of Tacoma has outsold all previous generations so far with few exceptions. That’s a fact, not an opinion or anecdote based on how many cars I see on a dealership lot.
