Depends. 500 is around what we’ve heard but there’s no guarantee. Most people don’t want to take that financial risk, so either move on or choose to haul water.

Ugh, hauling water would be a PITA!

IMO it doesn't matter what region if you're building a house on land people need to establish the well (and do a perc test) before even breaking ground. I've seen people build a fancy house only to find out they can't get any water.

Agreed! We found a few lots, 4 plus acres that had established wells, but not real flat by the creek and no septic. Septic has to be 100 yards from the creek so digging at a slope, in rock, could get expensive.

We’ll keep looking but may move towards to Prescott area knowing the challenge with the land and water situation in payson

Our drain field has to be 100' from the well. Looking at the map and doing some calculation I'm pretty sure I'm under that o_O

They did whatever they whatever they wanted to back then

So the Borough of Mercersburg is blaming inflation and tariffs.
    Inflation hasn't been that bad.
And tariffs? WTF have tariffs to do with it? o_O

Maybe it's just me, but I think the Borough needs a thorough audit.
Like, a real proctological, up their ass type audit.

Major infrastructure projects are typically funded by long term municipal bonds.
They don't get funded by current revenue.

    New poll :)

If it came down to it, we could manage.

There are numerous springs here on the mountainside.
I have one on my property that overflows occasionally.
A little digging and I could have plenty spring water.
The one under my neighbor's house runs all the time out to the storm drain along the street.

    Privy?
That involves digging and periodic relocation, but yeah.

On the farm, there was no indoor plumbing until my Dad took over.
My Mom, a city girl from Birmingham, insisted
(No electric either until the late 30s).

I don't think most people realize how recent a phenomenon municipal water/sewer is.
    Especially in rural areas.

    there is water in hell??

Sounds like some massive neglect of infrastructure too - to let it get so bad . .
But that seems like par for the course these days
No one wants to [pay] to maintain shit, like shit lasts forever or some shit
They would rather pay for flashy things

I'm sure an audit would show all kinds of bullshit...

Where I live, the county seems to keep wanting to raise property taxes [you know so we are "on par" with neighboring counties]
Because the government always "needs" to spend more money - not look at where that money is going and cut some shit.
It is like they never learned how to budget . . .
The fucked up part is - all this $$ and "improvement" is only in one tiny corner of the fucking county, meanwhile the rest of us get to pay more and get even less!! The assholes that are driving up our property values and bringing in more assholes, occupy a small 1[0% or less] corner of the county - but by the #'s have overrid the rest of us.
New schools, nice parks, sure if you live in that tiny ass corner - the rest of y'all can go fuck yourselves, but you best pay that increased tax bill or we will fuck you. Have a great fucking day [/sarcasm]
