Was for sure laying down the first tires on some trails. It's so tacky, smooth, and empty. I suspect this weekend it'll start seeing traffic tough.
Hit me up if you need some intel.

You can get up to the top of Tommy's. From there, take your pick. Some downed trees, snow patches here and there, every time the trail crosses a ski run you'll have to hike a bike a little over the snow, some mud on the road access trails, but the trials themselves are in great shape.
Some of the bigger berms had snow piles/rocks/debris on the bottom, but you can rail the top side of the berm and avoid it altogether.
Only sampled a few of the renegade trails, going to try some more later today.

I learned some knowledge the other day. The pads on my fat bike needed replacing, but I couldn't find the same ones. I had resin pads and ended up buying sintered for the replacements. I had no brakes. I bedded them in several times, sanded the pads, sanded the rotors, I could not lock up the rear tire. I found new old stock of the original resin pads and the brakes are good as new. Might be common knowledge, but I did not know you can't swap pad types on rotors. Apparently the resin gets embedded in the rotor and sintered pads simply won't bite.

I swap compounds all the time no problem. You sure you don't have the resin only rotors like SLX?

SRAM rotor up front, Tektro in the rear. I only swapped the rear from Tektro resin to Tektro sintered. I was pulling so hard on the lever I thought I was going to bend it, they would not grab. I bled the brakes, sanded both rotor and pads, took them down a long road to properly bed them, nothing. Swapped back to new resin pads and they lock up with very little effort (like they used to with the old pads).
I didn’t think anything of it, just thought the pads were garbage, chucked them and moved on. Then, a GMBN tech video pops up and explains how you’re not supposed to swap from resin to sintered pads. News to me! I’m far from a mechanic but I do try to do all my own work on my bikes. I have learned some hard lessons along the way but that’s half the fun, right?

I would think it's more likely those pads were contaminated, defective, or fake but I have little experience with Tektro brakes. I run either Shimano or Galfer rotors and pads, but yea never had an issue swapping from like Shimano resin to sintered, or Galfers. I typically just wipe the rotor down with isopropanol in-between swaps.

Most of the time, when in Demo, I choose Sawpit first over Flow. However, this time I chose Flow and was not disappointed. Berms were perfect. Bonus flip party at the parking lot.

That's always been my method also.
But in all honesty, I still contaminate my pads, no matter how careful I am, about 30% of the time. It's super annoying when I put them back in, go for a spin, and you know right away... Damn it!
I feel like if the pads are even in the same room when I bleed my brakes, or if they sense I did the job, they're contaminated.
I suspect I either get a drop or spray on the rotor, or some oil is left inside the caliper somewhere, or a tiny bit is on the handlebar and it drops down perfectly onto the caliper...

I have a work assignment in Alaska, so I added a couple of days here to ride with my friends. One of my friends let me ride his Reeb SST. That was awesome. We rode some old school trails above Anchorage and had a blast. I’m going to ride the Hilltop bike park today.

And from the ride today at Hilltop Park. I rode my friend’s Canfield Lithium. It was too short for my tastes. Climbed great though.

I didn’t think about them being fakes, they were Amazon finds so it’s a possibility. I had always heard similar, just decontaminate and you’re good. I did like the resin pads, I just couldn’t find them in stock. Next time I need pads, we’ll see what’s what.

Wrap it if you want it to stay that way! TR has kinda thin paint, and generally speaking matte finishes lose their pretty faster.

Yeah I am struggling with it a bit, I read a lot of paint complaints about these. I'm a "keep it clean, but wear your battle scars" kinda guy but it's already got a chip by the cable port and I haven't even really ridden it yet (we're sand city here and I need to get that factory grease off pronto..everything got uncomfortably crunchy after just ripping around the bike shop a few blocks  I'm actually glad the weather turned on me so I wasn't tempted to go christen it like this).

NBD. Got a deal on this Scott Patron 920 from Jenson. Finally pull the trigger... Sucks with how much crow I'm going to have to eat from all my buddies I have been chirping about their ebikes.

Seems pretty solid just rode it around neighborhood. First take...It's a tank! 60ish lbs. Need to dial in cockpit a bit the suspension lock out/release/dropper levers and Bosch remote are a bit much.
Rear hub is ridiculously shitty in comparison to my I9 Hydra on the Stumpjumper. Plan as always is to just upgrade to better parts as I grenade stuff.

Stoked to have this thing for trail work, Towing my kids up the mtn and of course party laps.

Specs on it if any one cares

Anyone got a secret hack for stopping a seat from squeaking/creaking?

I've tightened it to hulk like torque values, and I squirt some Tri Flow into the seat rails where they enter the seat itself.

Just washed the bike and went for a ride and it is SO BAD. Debating just buying a new seat.

Only does it while seated so I'm like 98% sure it's the seat. After tightening it and lubing as indicated above a few weeks ago it was much quieter.
