Has anyone ran the Archive Garage shock relocation with the stock TRD Offroad wheels? I know on the website it says a certain back-spacing is required but I’m not sure how to figure it out with the stock wheels. I already have 1.25” spacers on the truck, would this be enough or would I have to go bigger? Yes, I will get wheels eventually but for now I wanted to continue running the 33s on my stock wheels until I can get a new setup.

Backspacing is just one variable to consider with your setup. Tire width, shock diameter and bypasses, and range of travel (spring and shock dependent) are also going to factor into what rubs and what doesn't.

OEM TRD OR wheels are +25 offset and your spacers are about -32, giving you a final offset around -7et.

Your stock OR wheels are +25 offset. Figure in the 1.25" spacer (-32) you will be net -7 offset.

So what does this mean in terms of backspacing? I’m pretty familiar with offset and I’m sure backspacing is the same I just don’t understand it.

Backspacing is the result of wheel width and offset. Different combinations of offset and width will result in different backspacing.

Backspacing is essentially the distance between where the wheel meets the hub and the inside flange.

So with my offset being +25 on a 7in wheel, the backspacing alone should be roughly 4in (3.5in + 25mm offset.) Plus the spacer I have should give me 5in+ so I should be good correct? I just don’t want to get to the point where I bring it to a shop to do it and be stuck on the lift because my wheels are hitting the king shocks. I understand tire width/size all factors in but I was just dumbfounded on the whole backspacing idea.

Yeah that's basically right. You're at more like 4" backspacing. Assuming you're going with King 2.5 smooth body shocks you should be ok.

If you want to discuss your setup in detail I'd give Accutune a call and describe your setup for them. They've got a ton of experience and expertise with the archive shock relocation.

I just did that last week myself. My archive shock relo is going on in two weeks with King 2.5x12s

I have exactly what you are describing on my Tacoma. 1.25" Spidertrax, AG shock tower, and OEM TRDOR rims with 255/85/R16 Coopers.

I will rub the shock body of my Radflo's at full droop, plus some tuck on the opposite side. You can see the markings in the photo below.

I have not found it to be an issue.

Awesome! Only difference is that I’m going to be running kings in the back and also run a 285/75 not a 255. Still hoping that it’ll work out. I’m not planning to go full blown wheeling very soon so hopefully by then I can either get different spacers or even just get new wheels. I appreciate the help tho!

Our shocks are likely identical (2.5" body with external reservoir), but those 285/75's will make a difference for sure.
