I've spent a little money on improving the audio with speakers, sub, amps and insulation but otherwise it's stock. Folks like to say their truck isn't stock because they swapped some shocks and wheels and that's still stock to me considering I used to swap out engines or add boost on prior project cars. The Tacoma is just a daily driver that's gotten the job done for me.

But to answer the question, the stock audio was trash and I don't miss it.

 

z-precision cup holders - Never seen them! For your nalgine water bottles, and such?

Also, DDI jackers... do they really make that much of a difference? I'm 6'0" tall and find the position fairly comfortable. Worth trying the seat jackers?

 

You're not the first to recommend seat jackers. Noticeable difference in comfort, or? I'm 6'0" and stock seat angle/ height seems comfortable enough - worth trying out the jackers?

Meso map lights - I scored a set of map lights and rear bulbs from a neighbor. Definitely happy with them.

T4R wheels - those do look nice

 

I can see myself aging into "boring stock snob" status in the coming years.

That said - I'd do Bilstein 5100's again in a heartbeat. The stock suspension was really squishy, and produced tons of body roll.

Noted on the bed lights - I lucked out on buying the truck with the camper topper. It's definitely not totally dried in though.

 

I'd add dash cam to the list of essential modifications. I installed one a few months ago after experiencing back-to-back near misses with total idiots on the road.

A close buddy of mine has kept his fox body Mustang GT in storage since he bought it... Although now it's not worth much unfortunately - "Wish I got a Porsche 911 instead" he told me.

Next on my to do list is to correct the alignment by replacing the UCAs to account for the lift... which will lead to other things. It's a hobby.

5100's were an insane improvement over the stock LTD shocks. The brown leather interior is what sold me on the LTD (and I got a very good deal). I plan to install onboard air compressor and air lockers in the coming year or two.

 

Same - I'm planning on installing aluminum front bumper.

 

Yeah, even the JBL "upgraded" sound in the Limited trim leaves a lot to be desired... and it's also a pain in the ass to upgrade.

 

The only time I regret modding any of my vehicles is when another vehicle is released that I want...badly. Lexus is currently doing away with the IS line up and releasing a limited V8 version to send it off. Tacoma would go bye bye in a heart beat if I hadn't sunken money and effort into it.
I'm gonna say my CB radio was the dumbest mod. I've never used it and I don't off road regularly. I guess I could talk to creepy truckers on my commute if I wanted to.

Mod I cannot live without? The lift. It rides like a Cadillac.

 

I was questioning the lift and tires yesterday, but mostly because this drivetrain doesn’t have much power to spare. The gas mileage is bothering me more than I thought, and I haven’t needed the clearance and tires as much as I thought.

Deep snow and hunting season might change my thoughts however. And it looks fantastic with the lift and tires.

 

I have some large-ish tires, but no lift, and the 15 mpg (freeway!) hurts. But I get deep snow, but don't really need a lift. I might get a new set of tires for non-wheeling summertime to get better mileage, but have no idea what to expect. Of course that'd mean I'd need an easy way to change tires on my gravel driveway.

 

Bought a Pro to not have to think about major mods, but I do have three that are totally worth it:
* 265/75R16 tires
* Tune
* GasHole

 

Holy crap. I had no idea they were making a V8 IS. That'll be sick.

Re CB radio... at least you get a cool CB radio whip/ antenna

The jackers are a personal thing, it depends on your build and preferred driving position.

I'm 5'11" with a 30" inseam. I could drive about an hour and would find myself constantly shifting around to relieve pain.

It felt like my entire weight was supported by my heels & butt bones, there was no thigh support at all and my leg muscles were constantly engaged to hold me in place.

With the jackers I have driven 2500 miles in 4 days with no issues, if I didn’t have them I would have had to sell the truck.
