Well, I finished melting all of my old plastics over the weekend. I’ve gotta say, you probably need to fish a whole heck of a lot to turn making your own baits into a venture that “saves money,” but if you’re a pretty simple man that only throws a 5” senko or a finesse worm, buying 1-2 molds and a cheap injector just to melt down plastics you haven’t touched in years (colors or styles you don’t actually like, maybe gotten as gifts or just simply acquired over time) is a very rewarding way to get your money back out of them! I had all kinds of colors of stuff. I just melted all kinds of colors (greens/browns) (greens/blues) (reds/blues) (blues/purples/blacks) and came out with all these awesome worms!

A microwave and pyrex measuring cup lol After watching a few youtube videos, it looked like people were shooting for a certain temp range and measured it via thermometer, but I just went with the ole noggin' method; that is, 'well if it looks liquid and no clumps, its hot enough.'
For the cost of shipping a box back and forth, I'm afraid a new bag of baits will be cheaper lol. This is kinda the idea though - I'm telling all my fishing buddies to just throw all their old ripped up baits in a bag instead of throwing them away, and as I acquire enough stuff, I'll just melt it down and make some worms. Its kinda addicting though, so I hope I don't end up with many more molds/injectors :anonymous:

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
I have never got anything on those big worms. Don't know if bad luck or bad fisherman.
Those little worms called Trout Magnet and Crappie Magnet I have done well with.
