Remember like a week ago when we were talking mountain bikes and stuff. I found this from like 15 years ago when i worked from home and took care of getting the kids to school. It was 8 miles round trip twice a day. IMG_6226.jpg

Stuff that costs more than my wife thinks.
Today, we're grateful for sliders. A reminder to the distracted that the ability to turn right on red only gets you access to a clear far-right lane.

Not the middle lane. Not the far LEFT lane.

Ol' boy's altima got to meet some steel and spray paint. His mirror left a scratch that looks a lot like the ones I added on Rug Road.

All is well that ends well, I suppose. But my damn dry cleaning wasn't done.

I have such a love hate with golf. It’s fun but I’m lucky to hit under 100. I switched to playing disc golf more, a whole lot cheaper.

Anybody ever camp on Lake Mojave? I heard recently that you can drive right up to the waters edge to camp, that true? Is it cool/worth it?

Well thank you @Sixthelement for helping wire up the solar setup tonight. I’m new to overlanding and very green in 120v systems.

    12v 300ah battery
    500W solar
    4000W inverter
Soft start for the ac unit

Gonna have to see how the single battery handles all the loads with 500W incoming. But was able to test run everything and ac unit and microwave run no problem at least individually. I guess next test would be to run both at the same time to see if it can do it. Weigh the benefits of more ah battery vs more W incoming since space for either is at a premium. But the wife is super excited we can do so much without a generator.

Anyone doing anything on this 3 day weekend? Just had a random thought about going up to Telluride or Moab.

Will and I discussed your setup a little bit over text, keep us/me posted on the OlteanP inverter if you don't mind. My 3kw has been functioning well, but its only been on for maybe 1,000 hours so far.

You will likely be alright, as I am running 300ah and only 400w, and I can get my setup back to 100% most every day. Are you running some sort of propane/butane stove? The microwave is very efficient. I have a decent amount of experience running a 700W microwave off of an Ecoflow, and it is very efficient when compared to warming food on my induction. If I had space for a microwave I would definitely get one.

I would prioritize solar coming in over more battery. Or at least find some creative way to be able to aim your panels towards the sun throughout the day. My typical southern orientation during the workweek has me grabbing maybe 10a from the sun at the 2 hour mark after sunrise, with all ~24a coming in around 4 hours after sunrise. The weekend days where I park in a different orientation I can get all 24a, if facing east, by maybe 30 minutes after sunrise. I have a friend with a trailer who can pivot his panels east/west and flat and he grabs a bunch of solar all day long.

Well, my AZ plan is no more. I was mentally prepared now, not excited but planning ways to make the most of the Commercial Insurance brokerage path(mostly not wanting to live in big ole city like Phoenix again) . Turns out I got accepted to Officer School in the Navy with the Pilot slot I applied for. Official offer letter comes in next week. Newport RI for 13 weeks minimum then down to Pensacola to start Flight school. Maybe later in life I'll move back to AZ when my old body cant tolerate cold weather and I've got the money to live in the quieter outskirts of Phoenix. Was kinda ready to go there and have a garage and second car for fun so I could beat the piss out of the taco but, Flying planes sounds worth it :D
