Looks just like one of my favorite campsites!

Damn. I guess if I get out to that area this year it will just be more of a camping/kayak fishing type of trip.

If they are actually concerned about damage, maybe they should at least make an effort to keep people out of there. Maybe a chain across the trail with a sign, as opposed to a tiny little sign off to the side in the trees.

 

Is offroading really a spectator sport, though?

I've been there once (actually, Crandon), and it's pretty damn cool! Those guys get some crazy air!

It definitely looks like fun. I'd love to take one of those trucks for a spin!

Why start now?

 

Like I said, I don't think the USFS have the budget to police the trail. I did notice better signs that, while not in the middle of the trail (snowmobiles can still use it), were placed much more visible. I suggested that maybe posting a fine would help keep the assholes out, even if they can't patrol it. Chains across the trail would cause a liability...some dumb ass would get hurt or killed. Maybe spike strips?

Either way, I think the pipeline operator is calling the shots, since they have the right-of-way, and the USFS is complying on a safety concern. Too bad a few morons screwed this up, probably permanently now.

I offered help, but it may not be wanted. Not sure if it's a liability thing or what. I suspect it's all because the pipeline operator just wants it shut down and not have to spend any money on fixing.
