I have a 2020 TRD pro with 113000 miles on it. I live in San Francisco with very bumpy and uneven roads (lots of pot holes) my steering wheel turns and moves every time I go over a bump or pot hole. Driving on flat roads is fine even at high speeds. But just letting it roll and going over uneven surfaces the wheel will turn or move in response to these bumps. Any ideas on what this could be and how to fix it? I have a video but I can’t add it

Its known as bump steer. Slowdown and avoid the pot holes, your frontend alignment will thank you.

Have you had an alignment in the last 100,000 miles? If not, I would get one and ask for a little more caster than spec. Much less bump steer and a little more control in the steering wheel.

    have you modified the suspension?
If so, did you get a proper alignment after the fact?

Wide (or high-negative-offset) wheels will magnify that as well.

no that might be why the guy I bought it from said he did a bunch of service to it. Homie was full of it so I’m doing all the service now. I’ll def be getting an alignment what does more caster do?

I recommend as other members get an alignment and have all the steering components checked you may have some worn parts.

Other than moving you may have to hold on tight and live with it.

Imagine the front wheels of a grocery cart. the more you offset them rearward from the steering pivot, the less they wobble. I agree with pushing the caster forward by a half degree or so. Also agree with having the front end bushings looked at.

As mentioned, check suspension components, get an alignment. To add to that: I believe the service interval on the Fox shocks is 50k miles,,,, either way, way overdue, so that is a consideration too.

Although I’m having trouble finding a good reference at the moment, I believe increased caster can actually increase bump steer. It’s best to simply adjust alignment to spec.

In any case, a certain amount of bump steer is normal and unavoidable. It’s impossible for us to determine if yours is normal or abnormal without driving the truck ourselves.
