Quick question as I have just started having an issue with this since the latest android update on my phone. My issue is when I start the truck Pandora starts automatically. I primarily use I Heart Radio. I have tried to deactivate Pandora from starting but that removes it from it even being available in AA but even in this instance my I heart radio does not start automatically and I have to go in and select my station. Where as before the android update it would work like it was supposed to by opening the last player that was used to include the the station if that makes sense.
I have tried going into the settings of AA and play music on startup is selected (is there a default music source you can select somewhere) My setup in the Joying running the android 10 software the system shows up to date per the Joying website. I think the last update they have is from 2023 which is what I am running.
So is there a setting I can change to fix this that I am not seeing?

    Thanks

    @TXTaco211 This may help.
Here is what I did to have my AGAMA Car Launcher start up first. Go to settings - then USER and select Application Settings. On my unit, it wiil show all the apps that are on the head unit. I selected ON for my AGAMA app. This eleminates the bootup and opens up the app I selected.

If you have downloaded I Heart and Pandora onto the Joying head unit, they should be listed. If so, this should work. If they're not listed most likely this will not solve your issue.

I believe you are running yours through your unit and downloaded directly onto it. I am specifically talking about Android Auto's interface application and running it through Andriod Auto. I will definitely look and see but I think we are talking different things I had installed AGAMA but didn't care for it as I would of had to run Hotspot or get a separate cell service just for the HU. Just my opinion.

    Thanks for the feed back.

I bought the JY-TZ187N8. You just need to make sure to choose the correct option out of A,B,C,D depending on what stock HU you have and whether or not you have JBL.

Additionally, anyone using only clips for securing the HU. My stock HU didn't have every possible clip for the dash. I ended up ordering extra clips to get it as secure as possible.

You can find them on Amazon - Part:

I wired mine to a toggle switch. Flip the switch and the image comes up on the screen. I've had my Joying going on 4 years now, so the newer units may have this feature.

I got that same headunit about 4yrs ago too. Can you explain how you wired it or what you had to splice into?

Well, I am wondering if it is time to call an end to the Android Radio experiment for me. I have the same one as the post above (2 knobs, 9" diagonal screen, touch buttons along each side). It usually connects to Android Auto, but not always. I got a wireless USB Android Auto dongle, which works better, but even that does not always connect. I had installed (and even paid for) Sygic navigation, but every two or three days, it would forget that was the nav app at start up and tell me I needed to assign a nav app. I tried again with Waze with the same results. So I switched to Android Auto, which usually, but not always connects. More recently, I will get a random reboot once a week or so. This morning, it froze on the home screen. The knobs don't work, the side touch buttons don't work, touching anything on the screen doesn't work, steering wheel controls don't work. When I get home, I'll take it out of the dash and disconnect the power and see if that frees things up. If it is bricked, or it happens again, I will probably get a more "traditional" car stereo system from Crutchfield. I really like the 9" screen though. When I last looked at Crutchfield, it seemed anything 8" and above was quite expensive for my budget. Nowadays, it looks like there are some 9" radios for roughly the same price as a new Joying. But, I also have more room in the budget for something nicer, too.

For reference, I have had the Joying for about 3.5 years in a 2013 Crew Cab. I also replaced the stock speakers and added sound deadening to the doors and foam baffles to the speakers, both of which helped immensely.

    Two questions

Is the supplied mic any better than oem? If no, can you plug the oem mic into the back?

Is the rear view camera better than oem? If yes thinking I’ll swap my oem out with the supplied one if it’s as simple as plugging in to the existing run at the tailgate. If not I’ll run it up front and use it as a forward facing camera.

    2014 Tacoma TRD 6speed manual
    Hi All,

Been searching this thread for a solution - but haven't seen anything yet. Have a 2014 Tacoma TRD 6 speed manual. Installed the new 9" Joying and everything works awesome except backup camera.

When I go into reverse, Joying switches to backup camera, but the screen remains black and says "no signal." The OEM camera view never shows up. Does anyone have a photo of how they connected the harness for the OEM backup camera? Did you need to do any modifications? Anything different needed for a manual transmission? I've been corresponding with Joying, but haven't gotten an answer yet. I did check the software configuration and ensure I have the correct camera feed settings (CVBS N).

    Thanks in advance!

I figured it out. I had missed that I needed to connect the video female from the CANBUS box to the male port from the 24 pin connector. Somehow I thought I had to go to video in on the back of the radio

Once I made the connection, works perfectly with the OEM backup camera. Really loving the new 9" Joying unit.

From what I've read, you'll need to run the camera wiring from the tailgate to the cab, you cannot just swap out cameras on the tail (which would be sweet). OEM reverse looks pixelated on the bigger screen (9"), but good enough for me to save the hassle of running/splicing additional wires.

Doesn't work with the OEM mic. I've talked to people with the provided mic and was told it sounds fine. I'll try to get some additional feedback and let you know. Definitely not worse, lol.

    10/4. Thank you.

I’ll use the joying camera for a front facing camera.

Still need to figure out wth I’m going to do with the mic.

Got mine installed and it’s information overload going through all the menus and everything. Trying to figure out if I can change the CarPlay display. Figured out how to change the launcher for the homepage but don’t like any of the preloaded screen layouts. And for whatever reason my launcher options are 4, 5, 6, and 13. Seems odd.

I use Car Launcher Pro and works pretty well but making new skins is above my skill level. Are you using the installed zlink app?

Also, check out the CarPlay subreddit - the new version of CarPlay looks sick and may solve some of your layout issues (ETA Sep, unless you want to be a tester and get it now).

Thanks for the car play shout. Checked out Reddit and it does look very nice. Might play with the beta.

I’m not sure what the z link app is or if it’s installed on mine. I’ll have to double check tomorrow. Started modding my current launcher display for the time being until I have a chance to look at some other options.

Unrelated but is there a retain feature?

I got CarPlay to auto start every time but it doesn’t continue where I left off. Music wise or podcast wise or whatever. I have to manually go in and select what I want and hit play every time. Not a huge deal if no. I mean for music I just have to hit play on the Home Screen.

Same for the radio. Seems counter intuitive that I have to open the radio app every time I start the car to listen to the radio.

They have a resume or retain audio level on boot so there has to be a way to resume previous function.

Android does not have native CarPlay support so you must be using some add-on to connect. Joying comes with zlink and hicar apps, both of which are installed in the root. How do you get CarPlay to launch on your headhunt? Do you use a dongle (wired or wireless)?

Sounds to me like a CarPlay issue but I experience the same behavior (doesn’t bother me enough to investigate). Same with the Radio app - it’s erratic and will continue sometimes but sometimes not (and I haven’t investigated better apps but ChatGPT recommends MTCRadio, fwiw).

    Gotcha, didn’t know that.
On my headunit there’s an app called “car link 2.0”. No idea if it’s native or not. Takes longer to connect than the oem unit did but it works reliably. To get it to start automatic every time I went to user settings I think, can’t remember but turned on that app to run when the head unit boots. It skips the boot screen load up when I turn on the key on and automatically comes up with the car play connecting screen, then loads the car play screen. I’m running wireless iPhone.

Ill let you know if I figure it out. Has to be a setting buried somewhere I’m overlooking.

I figured out how to switch back and forth between radio and the car play screen like the oem unit without disconnecting CarPlay so that’s nice. Was pissing me off every time I exited car play screen it would disconnect my phone.

Had to adjust the playback volume for CarPlay though when in radio because when I got a notification or nav tried giving instructions you couldn’t make out anything being said.
