Buddy is an indoor cat but he likes for me to take him out as long as I hold him. I set him on the rail the other day and he was scared to death.

The boys having fun on the cat tree........

Although one of said boys doesn't fit in the cat tree very well.

lol the look of not knowing what to do when your stuffed in one section so well you can barely move.

He's 15 lbs and just turned 10 months.

We have netting across our 2nd story balcony area because of the above maniac monster man......we took it down today.....it was down for all of about 40 min before jackass over here started par-coreing off the wall , tumbling down to the floor below.

Serves the wife and I right. He looks like he's 10 years, but is only 10 months. We forgot. It went right back up.....and he's sulking now.

    IMG_20250220_165651679.jpg

You can see the netting in the background behind Krrsantan around the white railing.

On Feb 14, 2024 Beethoven about 1yr old at the time had an operation that costed about $13k when the dust settled to save his life.

It's a long read... so about funding as I realistically didn't have that kind of money was "Scratch Pay" who helped!!! If it wasn't for Scratch Pay, my baby boy was given days, if THAT, or be put to sleep. I was NOT about to put him to sleep and tried everything God willing to save his beautiful life!!!

I first started looking into a place called "The Face Foundation" and applied online only to get a call back roughly 10 or so minutes later and talked to a rep, no joke, her name was "Karen"? She proceeded to tell me as I'm obviously crying my eyes out that, "we don't normally fund people that make the pay you make..." and I had just literally started my new job a few months if that. Yes, I get paid so much better now, but even then, it doesn't mean I have close to $13k and to this day still don't, not even CLOSE!!!

Anyways, Karen then proceeds to tell me she needs more information like what I have in the bank, updated pay stub, proof of bills, etc which btw, the urgent care vet told me ahead of time that they required this, but at the same time, I had to take Beethoven to Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Sorrento Valley, CA as the vets apparently discussed his situation and given his current blood work and everything else he needed the operation much, MUCH SOONER than later!!! Again, he was in pretty bad shape and not any fault of my own. It was already a week and within that week they were finally able to figure out what was causing his ailment. I took him in immediately the day I noticed something was obviously wrong with his urination. Called my work and my boss let me take him in. Mind you, I just started my new job!!!

At first the urgent care vet figured it was just a normal UTI type situation, but even at the time they were not able to discover a much deeper underlying issue until about a week later when his next checkup was scheduled due to his situation. I had to take him in a day before his scheduled checkup because he went from actually doing very well for almost a week to just downright SICK???!!! I explained to the urgent care and they had me bring him in immediately. They are appointment only, but were very concerned with my description.

I get there first thing they open, they took him in the back, she apparently called Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH) in Sorrento Valley, which is basically UC Davis for veterinarians from my research and they had a discussion about his situation. The urgent care place took X-rays and ultimately an ultra sound as originally when I first took him in it looked like a normal UTI type situation so really no fault of their own and again, he wasn't THAT BAD initially. So after further looking into it ended up being "Urachal Diverticulum" and is a pretty rare condition for cats and in his case was a complicated case at the same time.

A lot more to this than I commented here, but in the end, the Urgent Care Place, "Tell Tail Veterinary Urgent Care" did a wonderful job as this was not a very typical issue let alone just hidden other factors. She was the one that noticed a small issue in one of his x-rays and that is when, apparently, they had started collaborating with VSH, having an ultra sound done to come to a more definitive conclusion and ultimately me transporting Beethoven for about a 17mi trip to VSH.

So, that is where the rep Karen of the Face Foundation comes in and this was about 7:30pm. She wanted me to drive home from there to Santee just to get the "proper paperwork" and I proceeded to tell her that it would literally take an hour or more just to get home due to traffic and an hour or more just to get back not to mention 2 or more hours just gather ALL of the information she needed??? In other words, I wouldn't have been able to get it done until 2am, if that? Keep in mind I had just moved from OC to San Diego. So any and all kind of paperwork, documents, etc etc etc was not going to be as easy as it sounds or made to be.

She then proceeded to ask to simply get someone to help? Like WTF? I'm balling my eyes out while discussing this and looking into Beethoven's eyes... NO JOKE!!! I was literally looking into his eyes with deaths door in front of him as, again, and if you look up Urachal Diverticulum, it can be bad and have complications, which unfortunately his was a complicated situation. I start getting angry at this point because it is going no where and I tell Karen I live alone and by myself, which apparently she just didn't get??? :mad:o_O I finally said, "you know what, fuck it, I'll just put my cat to fucking sleep!!!" and just hung up the call as she was still talking.

Not too long after I had explained to one of the technicians at VSH about what FACE had said and I simply did not have the money and looking at the very real fact of having to put my little boy to sleep and just crying beyond words. I was a MESS let me tell you. Then the VSH technician told me about "Scratch Pay" and give them a try. I got funded with no issues whatsoever in about 10min.:thumbsup:
It was high interest payment to pay back per month, but to me, it didn't matter because I was able to get funded.

Beethoven got his operation the very next day on Feb 14, 2024 and he was expected to recover, but still no real guarantees as how bad his condition was. He had to stay in the hospital for a day to monitor him and they had to extend it to about 2x more days, almost 3x days because they were concerned about his recovery effort. :(

I did everything I could to save my little baby boy's short life on this earth and now it was up to God for the rest.

Anyways, this was definitely the short version and the conversation with The FACE Foundation that took place and almost verbatim of what was said during that phone call at about 7:30pm on 13 Feb.

Thanks to Tell Tail Veterinary Urgent Care, Veterinary Specialty Hospital of UC Davis (Sorrento Valley, CA), Scratch Pay, and ultimately God for saving my baby boy's life!!!

I will NEVER RECOMMEND "The FACE Foundation" to anyone!!! I was obviously balling my eyes out, frustrated I had no money/power to save him, and just desperate for help. The emotions and anxiety was just unimaginable with no words to describe the desperate plee for help!!! :( The FACE Foundation, simply it's all about the money in the end. Their web site makes it act like they care about your pets well being, get funding in situations like this etc etc etc. They even, more or less have you required to "pay it back forward" not just repaying the funds, but by volunteering your time, which I was willing to do and that being the right thing to do. It could have been better worked out somehow, but she didn't want to and I had no time to play games as I was literally losing time, literally.

Below, is my other cat "Blizzard". Him and Beethoven just cannot be separated... Blizzard is my little rambunctious turd ball!!! o_O:annoyed::rofl::laugh::laughing:IMG_20250323_163535440_AE.jpg

    My two knuckle-heads together... :rolleyes::facepalm:
    IMG_20250514_123738.jpg

Blizzard here is actually yawning, LMFAO!!!
He"s roughly 6mo younger than Beethoven.
    IMG_20241202_081140.jpg

Sorry for the very long post people... :pccoffee: Just very happy to have my baby boy here with me today!!! :):fistbump:

    Thank you brother.

I was just playing with them both this morning and started tearing a bit. I posted because it helped relieve a bit of "chest pressure" among other things just currently going on.

But yeah, he is doing very well. He is on a prescription urinary diet now and I make sure he drinks plenty of water. I bought them a water fountain as I found out "moving water" promotes cats to drink.

People that are not animal lovers will never understand the love we have for our pets, they are a part of us, our family. I have done the same for one of my cats as well.
And yes one of our kitties just loves to drink from the faucet, lol. He goes in the bathroom and meows until one of us goes and turns the water on for him.

    LOL!!! That is hilarious. :laughing::laugh::rofl:
Sounds very demanding of him?

Beethoven likes to jump up on the sink area and likes to watch me wash the dishes and just loves to stick his head in the way??? o_O:rolleyes::facepalm::frusty:

Macy doesn't usually venture from the shop very far, first time I've ever seen her on the front porch. She was trying to hide behind the post.
