Homologated means approved, that's all. LED is still bi-directional, not omnidirectional. Approval seems to apply to glare, not to how well it works.

 

Yep, as long as its over the minimums and under the maximums it's legal. Doesn't mean it is better, or even as good, as we've seen here with Crash's excellent testing.

 

I just bought these. Any concern for low beam compared to a regular h9 bulb?

They’ll be sorta white and not as bright as a regular good H9 bulb. The colored blue glass filters light, filtering light dims the output. Simple physics…like putting on sunglasses.

If you want the blue bulb whitish look, yeah they’ll do the job, won’t be as bright. If you’re looking for actual performance, just buy a quality H9. it’s the best output you can possibly get out of a simple plug in halogen bulb and a massive improvement over the stock H11 bulbs.

 

My H9 from NAPA are clear glass ... no tint and no fancy tip color.

 

Obviously no blue is better. But if you do want a little whiter light, they make bulbs with the blue towards the base and the tip of the bulb, but no blue covering the actual filament.

 

I use Philips H9 no tint or cap on the glass
