EDIT: more info from the website that sells the spacer/washer https://ifssolutions.myshopify.com/blogs/news/toyota-ifs-issues

I'll be tearing the front end a part this weekend at WheelEveryWeekends shop when we finalize the LT Install. I'll post any updates if anything is found.

I’m eyeballing about a 1/4” of static clearance, but can’t deny the CV OD looks like it may have a witness “ring” of contact at the onboard edge of the barrel. Sure wish I knew to look at this clearance before I sold my lathe and shop! Would’ve been a super quick chamfer to cut in and be no issue at all!

what do you guys think, is there 1/4” of deflection at the rack pinion and or side of the diff?

If you never noticed till now I wouldn't even give it a second thought. When they really contact, you feel it hit when you turn.

Thanks for the feedback, yea definitely never noticed it, and as I’m just running stock tie rods im generally very delicate with my steering inputs so I really should notice if it was bound up.

On my stock length uppers, the misalignment spacers looked like the ones on the right. They do look a tad different however.

The taller misalignments on the right will be for the uppers...

I just got done exchanging that the very same one that's taller, the older style was causing premature binding..

Some updates on the front Install, finally got everything pretty much dialed with the newer style Upper Misalignments and the correct Length Coil Overs.. will be strapping at 13" of total travel, anything more than will cause bending on my Stock Inner Tie Rods.

Ill post some more later on everything that was needed to achieve the 13".

Here's a teaser for now, close to wrapping it all up..

Mine is only one forward. I tried for all the way front and cycling showed i was going to have to tub all the way into the headlight. Stop i ended up farther back.

Last year this month I bought @RonRon23 old JDFab +4 LT Kit used. The Uppers and Lowers still had the EMF Uniballs that were being phased out, and also some sloppy fitment with most of the Uniball joints. Talked to Jesse at JDFab about what’s going on and that I’m now the owner of RonRon’s Old Kit. Jesse said get those arms to me and I’ll see what’s up with what I was talking about.
    20240504_164302.jpg

Two weeks later I got the Arms back with all new Updated Uniballs and Hardware for no charge, not even shipping fees! I’m not even the Original Owner, that’s some badass customer service!
    20240523_132442.jpg

I also bought a pair of Fox DCS Coil/Overs from JDFab for the kit, they gave me special pricing just to get rid of them because they were on the shelf for a long time, nobody was interested in buying them. During the 1st and 2nd attempts at installing RonRons old Kit with the help from Ian and Brittany @WEW (WheelEveryWeeknd) we ran into a few major issues with trying to obtain the Advertised Travel Numbers, we weren’t even close to what is claimed. My old AllPro 2+ that I had on since 2009 produced better numbers. We determined that the Coil/Overs bought from JDFab were totally incorrect in every way. We also found that the Upper Misalignment Spacer was causing binding in both up travel and down travel, we were getting something awful numbers. All of these issues were previously posted…

some of the numbers we were getting when cycling..
    20240824_105434.jpg

Called Jesse and asked him WTH is going on?! We talked some things over and I gave him some of my opinions and ideas, and he gave me his opinions and also asked a few questions. Jesse called me back after a day or two after processing everything and said we’re redesigning the new style Misalignments, and we’ll send you them when the machinists gets them done. He also ordered the correct LT Spec Coil/Overs from Fox. After receiving everything it was time to schedule some time with WheelEveryWeekend for the final install!

In the meantime, Ian set me up with this dorky looking GM style bumpstop thing on the bypasses so I’m not metal to metal at full bump. It survived our trip to Moab and a few other trips through the High Sierras, Death Valley and portions through the Mojave Desert.
    20240824_153345.jpg

Now time for the details on the Final Install that happened this past weekend…

The first thing that was done was reducing the Bump Stop Stroke to just 1”. Ian opened everything up, took measurements of the Shims and then added the reducing spacer. He also revalved the Bumps for this specific kit with the motion ratio of the arms giving the most consideration. There was an extra shim in one of the bumps..Ian said he wasn’t really surprised by that.
    20250523_190647.jpg

Next thing to do was to swap the DCS Reservoirs to the new correct Coil/Overs and to revalve so that they can be happy with the Bypasses. The wrong spec’d Coil/Overs that I had been running had the worst valving and even worse Piston design which is the “Low Flow Piston” , why it handled like a brick in most situations..
    IMG_0031.jpg

Installed the new Upper Misalignments and measured to see if they made a difference, and man did they!! 13.5” metal to metal with a way for more if we clearance some room from the bottom of the Uniball Cup. That wasn’t necessary because my Stock Inner Tie-Rods were at the point of binding. I feel that if I had the JDFabs Inner Heims I would be pretty close to the advertised Travel Number of 14” but metal to metal and not strapped.

the new style and taller Misalignment on the bottom
    IMG_0034.jpg

Mocking up the Bypasses and Coil/Overs and found the Bypass sits a lot lower than the Coil/Overs. This was limiting full bump. And at full extension the Bypass shaft was not fully extended which prevented full droop.
    IMG_0037.jpg

The Bypass mounts were cutoff and were relocated up a 1/2” and back a bit by Ian so the the bottom of the Bypass sits even with the Coil/Overs
    IMG_0049.jpg

Ian opened up the Bypasses and removed a spacer, and that gave the extra shaft length to make the magic happen and allowed everything come together..
    IMG_0042.jpg

Ian was pretty excited that it had the 9 Hole Piston..
    IMG_0039.jpg

Ian also found the time to give me an in-depth lesson on the differences between Fox, King, and Bilstien Pistons. Explaining the differences between different style Pistons. He's the guy to go to for Shock Valving and Rebuilds!!

    IMG_0028.jpg

Next on the list was the Bump Cans, mocking them up kinda fell into place and ended up being pretty easy this time around..
    IMG_0052.jpg
    IMG_0053.jpg

A tiny bit of potential binding at full droop without straps..
    IMG_0060.jpg

Finally, bumped and stapped at a clean 13” !!!!!
    IMG_0067.jpg

Huge , HUGE shoutout to Ian and Brittany @WEW for their awesome hospitality, expert knowledge, time and effort. No that this install would have happened the correct way without you two!!

and another Huge shoutout to Jesse and Dave at JDFab for their Exceptional Customer Service!
