True that. I put flat black plastic caps over both sides and it looked good as new... and it was more durable since no more "chrome".

my wife and I are both the same. By the time you drive around and find a close spot, you could park way out in the parking lot and walk in. The exercise is good for you.

I do haha, the first one within a year of ownership was on a hiking trail out of all places. Can't trust hits or door dings even being higher up and with plastic fenders.

the 2nd gen owners (myself included) are more disappointed that the ultra reliability of the tacoma is over with. Most likely not gonna get 300k+ miles out of the 2.4 turbo without same major expense. Remains to be seen though. That said, I'd buy a 6 MT 4th gen as my next truck. However, my 2013 5 lug will probably outlive me. I bet the 6MT turbo is fun to drive.

So you wanted Toyota to keep the underpowered V6 because of it's reliability and not offer a more powerful engine with better fuel economy? You want it to last 300K? Most don't keep vehicles that long, average ownership is 8 years/100K. Toyota builds cars for the largest demographic. Diesels, front lockers, and 300K reliability, etc is not what sells. Of course you could always buy a...

Ultrareliable vehicles are the ones that are still on the road. Those that were problematic are already gone, including your gen. Just how it works.

Dunno know how many people say my Furd, Chevy has xxxxxxxxx + 1 miles on it. The ones that were going to fail already have.

    Me.....
Somebody give me a Johnny Knoxville in the ball sack please..

Just solved a newly preggo daughters Grand supra repair needs money wise.
And several other issues per her that are rather complicated that money has to address.

Just flipped my 2021 2.7 SR 4wd access cab to lease a 2025 SR 4wd and burnt up equity to access some equity Benjamin's

    5k down
    36 months
    328 month
    12k miles a year.

28 bucks more a month than what my remaining payments are on my 2021

And a low 5 figure check for rest of the equity on the 2021 some time in next couple of days.

Then "dear old dad" the 50 dollar bill tree ready for the plucking can be Mr Wolf from pulp fiction unfugging schittt again...

    Magic word being " again"....

Everyone seems impressed with the 4th Gen electronic whizz bangs..
    SMH...

I knew what my issues were with the 4th gen checking these out the past week.

Now mind this is a SR model.
Model # 7594 that Toyota just put up on a lease program till June 2.
Trust me I checked out the Colorado, Canyon, Ranger lease options too over past 3 weeks.
Pricey as fugg to initiate a lease with those 3
And the monthly payments were large.....
Eat more equity off back side check after all said and done and over with.
Hoping Toyota would offer a lease in the mean time.
Lo and behold they did this week and currently are....
What a way to spend memorial day for a former 11B w/ a CIB w/star.....
In a Toyota dealership unfugging fugged up schit..
Almost as fun as the dentist and needles in your mouth.....

SR double cab 4wd model 7594
And one of their higher end 4wd models on this lease program.
It was a means to a end is all it was today..

I bit the bullet and sent my 2021 unicorn down the road.
Newest used truck I have had since 1998

And got a new 2025 which is the 1st new truck I have had since a 1996 4wd Nissan reg cab hard body 4wd 5spd man.

    "Momentus day".....
    New truck..

Whoop tee fug me in da azz dooooo....

    Pros.
Got a ride for 36 months bumper to bumper coverage.
    That's it...
Most people would be happy as a pig in schit to get a new truck.

    Mehhhh....
Trading places Dan Akyroid Santa here.....

    Cons....
    1. Leaf spring under the axle rear.
With a even lower shock mount.
    YGTBFSM..
Robbed the vehicle of at least 10 to 12" of inboard under the axle clearance IMO.
The front of the leaf spring mount.
SMH talk about hang up city along the frame and the cluster fugg that can result from that.

    2. A mini spare???? WTF....

    3. The 7 inch rubber brake hose going into the rear disk caliper.
Congrats Toyota you literally have 45 plus SR,s and other models that are higher end on stop sale right now within 4 dealerships of a 50 mile radius of Clarksville....
Geuss it is a lost art using metal tube benders and location of the input into those calipers..
Whatever bean counting engineer or engineers/ good idea fairy came up with that also needs at a minimum a Johnny Knoxville in the ball sack....
Toyota you fugged up big time pinching pennies and or assembly line process efficiency with that one.
    I am not impressed.
Come out with a frigging 3 or 4 angle metal tube brake line fix.
    Idiots....

    4. A fugging open air box intake with a seal that mates to the hood.
    YGTBFSM...
    again....

    5. Anyone seen the big Ole empty debris box just under the back edge of hood just in front of the windshield except me???
That thing is just waiting to fill up with schitt...

    6. Electric fan only....
    Nuff said about that...
That's a engine overheating disaster lurking in the dark.

    7. A welded on towing package..
Douche move Toyota for those of us who would like to remove that hang up potential issue.
That's also in conjunction with your leafs under the axle and front leaf frame mounts, the lower shock mounts and robbing under axle inboard clearance issue previously stated.

    8. Felt composite front wheel well liners and a felt composite " skid plate"
    YGTBFSM...
    again....

    9. A 18 gallon fuel tank....
    Unfugging real...

    10. The factory tires
    Toyo whatevers..
    Fugging pizza cutter road tires..
    ( I will address that)
Oak leaves and red clay and the ridges around here love fugging with pizza cutters on a vehicle out hunting..
Can't wait to see what red clay does to the front felt wheel well liners..
    SMH.....

    12. NO fugging engine cover....
Even if it is a turbo engine heat issue.
One even that was slotted to allow heat to dissipate would be better than none .
Geuss a thermal image scanner might help in designing one?????

    13. A horizontal screw on oil filter.
    Talk about stoooopid...
    Hello mcfly.

    14.Oil pan drain plug location...
    Unreal..
I bet it is like a EPA super fund site popping that open to drain it.
    Face palm stuff....

I'm sure I can find more.
Give me some time this is just day 1...

Ain't even dived into actual engine and tranny potential schit.
Doing the 600ish mile break in thing.
And most def will being doing 4 k oil changes per a turbo engine system.
Clean Oil is a must with turbo,s....
    Gonna smoke my 1st " Toyota care " oil change at 1 k and 2nd at 9k
    With my own at 5k
Then settle in with rest at 4 k changes.

I can see myself paying the 350 bucks gladly to turn this in 36 months from now.
And going back on the hunt with a large down-payment for another Gen 3 unicorn...
Took me almost 3 months of looking to find the 2021 I had.

    1st 36 miles on this 2025 today
    Unreal.....

Told Mr tech guy who wanted to upload app this that or the other for my phone and whatever into this electronic whizz bang truck.
Wanting to sit down and give me a in Cab class
My eyes were not all aglow with wonder, fascination, or amazement per the Cray 2 supercomputer features....
Homie don't do apps or want apps
Just show me the phone charger plug in
Put up on the display MPH, tach and boost.
Thats all I need for now.
I can read dude and I am smarter than the average national park bear raiding pic a nic baskets at jelly stone national park..
I will figure out the MPG display easily when I read up on the vehicle tommorow.
And put 97.5 and 96.3 on the radio please.

He was kinda butthurt I wasn't into all the buck Rodgers electronic eye candy bells and whistles.

I understand modern electronics chit is marketed to those who crave it.

    I'm a dinosaur I geuss..

    Fugg..
The 2021 was like the space shuttle to me display wise and overall tech wise moving up from the 04 reg cab sht bed 4wd 5cyl 5spd Colorado I had for 6 yrs.

I should have kept that Colorado also as a second truck....
That little SOB could go places bigger trucks couldn't in open mature oak Forrest to throw a dead deer in the bed.

See how this 2025 holds up on its 3yr/36 bumper to bumper.
Which is the only positive point as mentioned at 1st and unfugging preggo daughters issues.

    Oh...
    Look...
The 50 dollar bill tree in the back yard is ripe for the plucking and filling up tthe wicker money basket.

    Rant over......
Plenty of material to pick apart for some to work with.
    Have at it...
Ain't no one here making direct deposits into my bank for me last time I checked .
    So IDGAF...

    LOL!!!

You kept your last Tacoma 4 years and your leasing the new one for 3 years. I wouldn't worry about extra oil changes, it will last longer than you will own it.

    No ...
I bought the 2021 last November.
Didn't even get the chance to put a dead buck in the bed.
2 in the old Colorado though last fall.
The 2021 did have a dead Tom in the Bed in April.

So at least it had blood in the bed once.

It was a gas and power right of way clearing and marking vehicle had 57k on .
    Today it had 67459....
