So I've have had a set of front and rear bilstein 5100 shocks sitting at the foot of my bed for over a year now, I finally think its time to install them and get a lift. As far as Im aware the sr5 trim has a .5 rake, I want to level and lift the truck. Was thinking of originally doing the 5100 install with the front set for a 1.5 inch lift (reusing OEM coils as bilstein recommends) and to put a 1inch block in the rear (rear shocks only accommodate 1inch of lift) THAT was the original plan, but after hearing of axle wrap and other issues with blocks, I was going to ask if anyone had advice as to alternatives, I was thinking going with the OME EL111R leaf packs, but im being told they add more lift around 1.5-2inches. My issue is the 5100 rear shocks as far as Im seeing only support a 1inch lift, and I want to figure out an alternative to my issue. Perfect world would be a 1inch lift in back and 1,5 in front. If anyone has any input or solutions please let me know! Thanks!

Another issue remains as if the OME leaf packs add more around 2 inches then Id also seemingly need to upgrade to OME front coils to support more lift in the front to now have 2.5 inch total front lift and 2 inch in the rear for an all around 2 inch lift, Id be fine with this outcome as well, however the issue remains as if this would over work the rear shock rated for a 1inch lift :/ I really am unsure as to what to do here as I am also on somewhat of a budget and limited to my previously purchased hardware (the 5100s)

Go measure distance between center of hub, up to fender edge, for both front and rear, on both sides, to get your starting measurements and amount of rake, and write them down.

A max 1" block is ok. AAL is better. A new pack is best of course but much more expensive than either. Deaver makes a 1" lift leaf pack. I run cheap General Springs packs and they settled in at 1-1.25" lift with empty bed.

Manufacturer lift recs for rear shocks is a rec not a limit. Your only true limit is having too long of a compressed length where your stock bump stock doesn't engage and 5100s are nowhere close to that. You could lift your rear 4" and the 5100 would probably still bolt in. You wouldn't have much if any rear downtravel but it would fit.

Don't lift your front more than 2" to keep Taco mod life simple and within budgets. Most leaf springs settle at least .25 or more with time.
A 0.5" or more rake to start is good. You won't be running nose high down the freeway that way.

    Good luck.

Appreciate the insightful reply, do you think the OME, EL111R are a good option then, simply replace the leaf springs and run the 5100s ?

Highly recommend against the OME leafs. Those are the worst leafs you can get for a Tacoma. Go with Dobinsons or Icon RXT.

I experimented with 1/2" to 1" blocks and adjusting front 5100s circlips before swapping coilsprings and leaf springs, and then rear shocks after, and analyzed their impacts and effects each time.
It is more work to change but not as much $ until you're sure.

think i might just run the Icon 1.50 Add A Leaf kit and say fuck it. Rather then get all new leafs when i'm only at 26K miles. Save full leaf replacement for down the road still get lift in the rear and do 2 inch setting on front clip.
