The tank is complete. Learned so much through the process. Next time should be faster and a bit easier.

hope y'all have been having a good week riding, working, etc

it's been heating up here in SD, weather has been great for riding. Headed to Chuckwalla this weekend for Sat/Sun, and I'm toying with the idea of taking the V4. both for suspension setup, and just to get a better feel for it in a controlled environment.

Took the monkey out for about an hour. What a blast this little bike is. Then got home and jumped on the Klx for about an hour also. The KLX will be so much fun with SM wheels. I am at the Mexican restaurant meeting my wife for a drink before her union meeting.

Went out for the longest street ride I have done in about 15 years. I have been putting around town, trying to get used to this bike and riding on the street again. Today, went on about a 50 mile trip, up to the end of the lake and back. Mostly back country roads with a little bit of highway. By the time I got home, the tips of my fingers and my feet were tingling from the vibration of that little thumper. It was also screaming at 65 mph on the highway sections. Still had a blast though, but I think a twin is in the future.PXL_20250522_200505708.jpg

Starting young is best. I missed out on decades of riding because of my family's fears. Still regret it.

    None... yet.
Starting young with a responsible parent is awesome! Good thing I didn't start riding until just before I turned 50. If I'd started any earlier... :bananadead: Turning 57 soon and I still struggle to not act like a hooligan half the time.

My family hated motorcycles so I can understand this one. My first bike I kept at a garage I rented a few miles from home and didn't even tell my parents for a while. Dad passed away shortly after I bought that first bike and though she always hated it Mom let up and left me bring it home.

just a couple of things tbh
Question? Is there pants that can slip over jeans that will help keep you a tad warmer? 45 degrees isn't so bad if I can keep my legs warmer.

Off topic I noticed a bit of a speed wobble at 100. Thought it was odd since most claim the top speed on this is around the 130 range maybe tires?

ya ya you don't need to be going that fast true but in my defense it was a straight away and I wanted to go faster lol.

There are a variety of riding pants available that can fit over jeans. You're going to have to decide how much you want to spend. I just got a new pair of Aerostitch AD-1 riding pants for Christmas. I had a pair of them that I'd bought used off a FJR forum that served me well for almost 12 years. Goretex lined so they're waterproof I can wear them over jeans or just over a base layer depending on weather conditions. They're pricey AF at over $500 but break that down over the number of years and the fact that while wearing them I don't need other rain pants and they don't seem as bad. They have snaps to adjust the waist size so they can accommodate up to 3 sizes in one pair of pants. Not quilted so once it gets below 40 they're not quite enough.

Wobble could be the tires but I'd also suggest neck bearings might need adjustment.

ya i figured there was a lot of options haha. ill give those a look thanks, 40 degrees is kinda my limit tbh i dont trust the roads below 40 degrees with all the shit.

thats what i was wondering as well but the tires look newer and dont seem to have a load of miles on this set from what we found out from the dealer. ill take a look at the neck bearing and see if it just needs tightened. it happens right at 105 is what i noticed anything below that the bike is stable.

here is an odd one. the people on the tracer forum state it has to do with the bike being lighter weight and having hand guards that act like a mini sails. not 100% but most have seen a fix in the wobble if they lean farther forward and dont have the hand guards. which is odd but i can at least test that and see.

That is beyond idiotic. I rode my drz and 690 on the highways plenty with handguards. Handguards are on both sides of the bar, if anything they would cancel each other out with forces.

Leaning forward does put more weight on the front which usually does help that regardless

I'm on a nostalgia kick again. I would love to have a NX650 Dominator Camel bike.....but I don't know if that'll happen............so I found out they make a Camel graphics kit for the Transalp

Also love the TMBR kit with ADV Camel high fender

unsure its just what people have stated at 100+ anything below 100 it feels just fine without issues. i dont really agree with it just thought it was odd.

ya im still leaning towards tire or maybe neck bearing.

    The originals had gold
I don't think the blue would look bad at all though
